so i bought a new ps3 slim today at gamestop and once i set up everything i saw that it was a 3.50. i was here for the beginnning of the cfw for ps3,

are we still able to get on psn with cfw,

by the way it sucks that the psn is down

Well, before PSN went down, rebug users were still able to get on the dev networks. When it comes back up fully, who knows.

Ding, you are correct sir. See the Rebug 3.41.1 / 3.55.1 thread for more info about Rebug. There's also a couple of threads explaining how to get online on some of the popular FPS's (COD's, etc)
