Blu ray disc error
Blu ray disc error –
I bought my first Blu ray the dirt 2.
I opened the multiman to backup it into my HDD.After that i quit to menu and i lunched the disc. The game worked fine.So i decide to make it to boot directly from the xmb and since this moment the problems began.
When i lunched the bluray again the game gave me an error and it quit back to XMB.
Now the bluray icon don't appear on XMB and on managers too.The blue led light and i hear the spin of the motor so i guess that the drive works..the "loading" icon in the xmb you know this one on the clock is always loading...so i restored it back to OFW 3.55 but the same happens....i formatted the hdd, i rebuilt the data and all the known options but the problem is still unsolved.
Laser dead mate...Guess they are not built for constant use from ripping. Mine has done the same also.
Buyer beware where you get one from. DVDs will probably still work. If you find a reputable dealer of lasers then let me know
It can read the PS2 discs but i guess that it use different lens for that.
Duh ! now i will need 60+ euros to fix it.
PS2 uses DVD.
You might be able to clean it with a cotton bud/q tip damp with pure alcohol then gently polished to a shine. Be so so careful though as the bluray is very fragile.
Got nothing to lose I guess
I agree , My replaced Laser/Deck Assembly a few weeks before I got into Backig up my Games. After the 8th Backup The Replacement Laser Failed. I was able to get the company I purchased it from to replace it for free. I replaced the deck/Laser Assembly This Morning and Backed up another 8 games. All Is Well now. Still wondering if backing up games puts a strain on the laser or is it due to heat buildup or something. This may not be the same for your PS3 but here is a link to a Ebay Listing

Yeah i had this idea too.
I also have got a cleaning disc with a very very soft cloth on it.
I will try it too.
DONT use it. If it is not for bluray, don`t use it. It will most likely scratch your lens.

RIP my blu ray lens. xD
Just pop the lid off and give it a go with some vodka/aftershave/brake cleaner and a cotton bud. Not too much though. Make sure everything is immaculate and dry.
There is a tut on youtube on stripping your drive
I don't want to remove the warranty sticker yet.
I have 3 months warranty so yeah i'm waiting their reply, if i must pay or not.
If i have to pay them then i will try this method.
