Black Screen loading from internal HDD

I keep getting the black screen whenever I try to play a game from the int. hdd

Here's what I've done:
Brand new 3.5 console -> 3.5.5 OFW -> 3.5.5 kmeaw
multiMAN ver 1.16.11 MEGA installed
BDEMU.pkg installed

With blackb0x FTP setup I used Transmit (mac FTP client) to put a game backup in dev_hdd0/GAMEZ

When I open multiman, the game does show up in the list
When I launch it, I get kicked back to XMB. The game shows up when I goto /app_home/PS3_GAME/, but if I launch all I get is the black screen. I have also tried doing Select-X from multiman to no avail. I don't get any special prompts or error codes, just the black screen. I also can't get out of it w/o hitting the power button (or don't know how).

I also tried going back to 3.5.5 OFW and re-install kmeaw but same results

Is this something wrong with my setup or my backup? or both?

Any advice for a newb would be appreciated

You need to have an Official PS3 Game Disc in the system for you backups to work.

Select + X only works for games on an external drive.

Sometimes during the Black Screen, you can hold the PS button on your controller, and the Menu to QuitGame/Shutdown may show up.

I thought this was only for loading off an Ext. HD. Anyways it didn't work either, I get the same black screen

What game you trying to play? Is it same for all games or just one game?

Im not on 3.55 but from my reading, it sounds like you need to run that fix permissions pkg and that should take care of it. I think thats a pretty common problem on 3.55

I have this same exact issue. Running MUltiman 1.16 and 3.55 KMEAW

But only for 2 games that I'm aware of.

MLB 2k11 and Top Spin 4.

Pretty sure my other 13 games work perfect, including crysis 2, TW12, and other newer games.

I tried basically starting from scratch again and loading games from /GAMES (instead of /GAMEZ) and everything is working now. It's possible that creating the GAMEZ directory from my FTP client was the culprit originally. I also updated to the latest version of multiman too (1.16.13).
