Black screen game error for rogero cfw 4.30 Theory!
Ok here is a post I quoted from Tortuga Cove:
"Hello.
After various test, several updates and downgrades i come to the conclusion that in the case of games executed directly from BD-Drive, one of the causes (may be exist other possible causes) of black screens, game freezes or games that are not shown in XMB is the laser decalibration; i don't know how and where the calibration parameters are stored in the system, but in my test i can observe that this information is sensible and potentially modificable by a firmware update; in some systems like mine, the update to a FW 4.xx+ will result in a decalibrated laser, ergo, some disc are not being played properly, when you downgrade to a 3.55 FW like Kmeaw, Geohot or OFW aparently the calibration parameters are overwritten to others more compatible with the affected systems and this is the reason why downgrading to these FW solve the problem, HOWEVER, these results tend to vary each time that downgrade or update, HOWEVER again, always the BD drive works better in 3.55 than 4.xx+ FW.
BUT WAIT!!, this can be solved (at least in my test works), just need to recalibrate the laser, to do that just turn on the system, stay on XMB, if you have a disc in BD-drive retire it, now, without any disc in BD-drive, press and hold the eject button for 2:00 minutes (EXACTLY), on this period of time the blue light near the button will flash for 13 seconds, then stays off by 10 seconds, this way again and again; once the 2 minutes passed release the button and try to reproduce a disc that not worked before.
This procedure make that the system execute an extensive laser calibration routine, if you can observe any progress but still have problems repeat the procedure.
THIS PROBLEM IS NOT EXCLUSIVE OF ROGERO'S CFW, EVEN OFW HAVE THIS PROBLEM IN THESE SYSTEMS, there are reports from people with OFW 4.21 experiencing the same problem."
I just want to know if the theory holds water! Alot of my older games arent working on CFW4.30...Even DEAD OR ALIVE 5 which has been unmodified since I got it on my External HDD.
