Best Way to format new internal HD
Best Way to format new internal HD –
What is the best way to format a new internal HD. I am having way too many problems trying to copy games from an external hd, or disk to the new internal drive I have installed (WD 750gb). I did the full format on the playstation system settings, but even after doing this I still have issues copy or ripping games. I was wondering is there a utility to use that is better or what do you guys do when you come across problems such as copying to the internal. I dont understand why there should be issues when copying it. Thanks!
what kinda of problem do you have in copying process
yeah, what kind of problems are you having?
in any case tho, the best way is to format with any file system(ive tried ntfs and fat, both still make your ps3 able to format the disk) with your computer, then put it in the ps3 and let it format it.
The problems I am having is that I try to transfer a game, and at some point it cannot go any further. It gets stuck on a certain file. Ive waited 24 hours and it still wasnt able to copy. Even tried getting the most up to date multiman and still having problems. Not sure what exactly to do because some games I need to put on the internal to play. Anyone know what the issue might be?
Have you tried reformatting it again?
not yet, what way should I go about doing it. Should I do it using the system settings or do some other way? thanks.
first let the Windows Format it to NTFS and then plug it to PS3 and then let the PS3 format it and try again .
Check SMART of Your HDD. Maybe he start relocating sectors which mean unrecovered bad blocks when reach limit of reserve sectors or others problems.

i'm betting you didnt disable the western digital auto-drivehead-parking feature.... there's a specific application to disable the feature (through windows) that fixes many ps3 problems with western digital drives larger than 500gb. also, you dont need to do a full format - a quick format works just fine
