something easy to install, just screw it in and no weird modifications.

ive read that the WD harddrives are the best, yet they cause stuttering. i've also found this site
5 Best PS3 Compatible Hard Drives | Made Manual

to be honest i do not know much about the different hard drives, so hopefully one of you can provide input or feedback.

which should i get? i figure i should get 500 or 750 so i dont need to deal with low space (60gb atm).

other than 9.5mm height max, 2.5 inch battery, 5400rpm, is there any other limitations i should be wary of?

    >See Toshiba and Hitachi hard drives on the list
    >Laugh uncontrollably

    That list is ass.

Newegg.com, look for 2.5" hard drives. Just look at price per gb in brands Western Digital, Samsung, or Seagate. Samsung are the best in my experience. That's your best bet. I think mine is a 640gb hard drive and cost around 60 bucks. Make sure you DO NOT get a 12.5mm drive.

Wait till after christmas, everything will be on sale.

Also if you buy anything from a retail store, i.e. best buy, prepare to pay far more than its worth.

p.s: "eco-friendly" is another term for "Will fail within a year". Western digital green drives are the new Hitachi Deathstar.

thanks for the tips- these real advices help more than some bs reviews on the net.

i found an amazon one so far to be the cheapest that i think qualifies for good ps3 internal. and free shipping (prime).
Amazon.com: Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500 GB Bulk/OEM Hard Drive 2.5 Inch, 8 MB Cache, 5400 RPM SATA II WD5000BEVT: Computer & Accessories

any advantage of newegg over other sites? just checked them and they only have ONE 5400rpm 500gb internal hard drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136230
    that's no good right?

i also do not see any 750gb that are not bpvt that are under 70$.

750gb laptop hard drives cost more than $1/gb, and tb laptop hard drives are all 12.5mm.

There's a comparable seagate hardrive on newegg for 54.99 shipped.

Although since there's no way you'll receive it by christmas regardless, I'd try looking after christmas.

Go to Wal-Mart and get one of those $60 500GB Seagate Free Agent Go drives, and just pop the case off of them.

    They work great.
