Best route to Newest CFW

Hey Guys,

I followed the scene for a bit, back when my roommate had a ps3 and 3.55 was the high CFW available. I installed Rebug 3.55 on his ps3, and I believe 3.60 OFW had just been released when he moved and I stopped following the forums.

Well, I've just acquired a 60 GB CECHA01 model, running a mere 2.71 OFW, complete with Other OS capabilities, but am a little lost on where to start with it and have a few questions.

From my understanding of the posts I read, there is at least one 4.31 CFW (Or at least a 4.30 CFW that can be spooffed to 4.31) CFW. Just to clarify, is it possible to go online with this (or any) CFW at this time? If so, which online-capable CFW is recommended? (I'm looking mainly to purchase/download PSN games and play the occasional co-op MP, but nothing that are usually targeted by ban waves due to cheater issues.)

I've also read that I will want to toggle the QA flag on 3.55 before upgrading further. Am I assuming correctly then that I should upgrade from 2.71 OFW to 3.55 OFW to Rebugs 3.55CFW, Install Rebug ToolKit and toggle QA, and then upgrade to 4.30(1)? Is there a step I'm missing, or a better way to do that?

Finally, I don't suppose there's a handy-dandy tut around here that I'm missing that answers all these questions that someone could point me to, by chance? (Or really any sort of updated/current tut that will take me pre 3.55 to current CFW)

1) yes it is possible to go online with the new 4.30.1 cfw
2) there a few cfw that you could use to go online i personally like the latest rebug cfw
3) there is always a risk of getting ban by going online and play multiplayer games regardless if you cheat or not.
as for psn games there plenty of free stuff you could look for. i could tell you where to find these but im sure im not allowed in the forum.
as for your steps you are only missing a couple I upgraded my ps3 to cfw 4.30.1 rebug last night using this simple steps.

Steps to install 4.30 REX from 3.55 CFW


*upgrade from 2.71 OFW to 3.55 OFW to Rebugs 3.55CFW through recovery mode only
and through recovery mode as well when your ready to upgrade to cfw of your choice

* REMOVE disc from drive!!!!

* Install Rebug Toolbox 2.01
- Dump Flash to USB
- Set QA Flag: ENABLED
