Best plan of action for jailbreaking from 3.41?
Best plan of action for jailbreaking from 3.41? –

First off, I've read all the stickies and understand how to jailbreak the PS3 when I eventually attempt to do it. I'm just not sure on what would be the best path to take. I've been reading threads all day and overwhelmed with info, so any advice would be a huge help. I have a Slim model that's currently on the 3.41 official firmware. Here's my main concerns:
- any reason to stay with 3.41 when jailbreaking or has everyone moved on to 3.55?
- sounds like OFW 3.55 + CFW kmeaw + multiMAN (or Gaia) is the best setup for me to use. Any others I should look at?
- what would be the best 'stealth' method to use so my PS3 doesn't get detected & permabanned? Is there any 100% safe way of doing this yet (aside from keeping my PS3 totally offline) or will there always be a risk?
- is there a OF/CF dual boot firmware yet?
- are dongles like PS3break pretty much obsolete now or is there a good reason to still be using them?

First off, you can find all the downloads you are looking for and more at the links in my sig
1- No reason to stay on 3.41.
2- The kmeaw + OFW is the best way to go, or try out Rebug and see if you like that.
3- Download PS3MFWBuilder 0.2, and place it on the root of your C drive. Then apply the privacy patch to kmeaw. Or the rebug privacy patch to rebug, and then Stealth it. As far as I know, nothing is 100%, except for removing your PS3 from the internet. I could be wrong.
4- Yes, again, see the links in my sig. It will be under the CFW section.
5- They are getting more and more obsolete all the time. Even the company that made them are giving up keep their websites open, and their download available.

Thanks for the help tthousand! I actually had those links in your sig bookmarked before I posted.
One more question...I have a replacement internal 750GB hdd for the PS3 coming in the mail later this week. Can I swap & install it while I'm still on OF 3.41? I remember reading a few comments saying I had to upgrade to the most current FW before I install the hdd but that doesn't make sense.
As long as my PS3 and old 120GB hdd are still on OF 3.41, then I should be able to swap the new 750GB hdd with no problem, correct?

It might be best to swap while you are on OFW. Most likely, the PS3 will ask you to put a USB stick in with the current OFW you are on in order to format your new internal hard drive. It does not matter which OFW you are on, as long as you have the same OFW PUP file.

Ahh, okay....so that's what they meant. I have to get a copy of whatever OFW the PS3 is on and put it on a USB when I do the hdd install. Makes sense now.
I've read that there were a lot of problems swapping hdd's while on 3.41 OFW so I guess I'll just update to 3.55 OFW and do the swap on that before I install the CFW.
Anyway, thanks again for the help!
