BD Removed

So i've just removed my laser from my drive as it's struggling to pick up discs anyway i thought i'll remove the power and data ribbon as i won't be using it until i get my new laser

Just ran into a bunch of problems none of the installed apps will launch with it disconnected they all black screen and a power off by the switch is the only way to turn off

is there any reason why this happens?

does the ps3 xmb do checks on the bd before launching any apps?

yes it does, but this should work fine with the laser removed from what i understand
applications work only if the bluray drive is connected

btw, any demo running while this is disconnected?

hmm so ur in the same situation as me. i cant launch demos, home, or bm manager or snes emulator.

my bluray is either dead or wrong key. nobody is helping with this

didn't bother to try as i've no demos installed as it's a cheap ebay job console purely for psgroove £70 for a 80gb console with a dying laser cost £30 to replace the laser and deck so not bad

i'll install a demo tomorrow and try it again and let you know my results
