Just jailbroke my Fat PS3 40GB with four usb slots. I looked up that the 40GB can't do backwards capability. Since i jailbroke it and i'm using an external hard drive. Can it play PS2 games off the hard drive? Or it doesn't work like that :(.

if it had backward compatibility before the jailbreak im sure that should still work.
You still need a Cobra dongle to play PS2 backups.
Oh okay, two more questions. 1. Can install multiman and gaia backup managers both at the same time and use whichever one i want? 2. The cobra website has a download tab where i can download the cobra firmware.. can i just put that firmware on any usb?
1. Yes, at one time I had both Gaia and multiMAN installed at the same time. Both worked well, but I preferred multiMAN.
2. As far as I know (I may be wrong) the Cobra firmware can only be installed on the Cobra USB dongle. They are mainly used to upgrade the firmware of the usb.
To clarify a bit, you can install the cobra custom firmware with any regular USB stick, but you will need the Cobra dongle in order for it to work. The Cobra dongle is not regular storage device that you can just copy file to an from. There is a separate program that is specifically for updating the dongle itself. So you will actually need another USB stick (for installing the Cobra CFW to your PS3) and the Cobra dongle itself.
Alright, thanks guys for the info :).
