backing up games freezes system need help

ok so I tried to back up god of war 3 and read dead redemption undead nightmare to my 2tb external harddrive but everytime I backed them up or any other game it freezes part way through or nearing the end. I tried gaia manager, open manager, multimanager and there all the latest version, Also Im using ipod nano 1g with hermes v4b (non spoof). So does anyone know what is the problem and how to fix it? Thanks

I checked some compatability lists and it seems the us version of gow 3 should work, but it listed the european version as not working on external. It listed red dead redemtion undead nightmare as not working on external. Furthermore, If your on 3.41 make sure undead nigtmare has the modified eboot, or it wont run on external or internal. I would reccomend looking at a compatability list, and try something that is known to work, or try the same games on Internal. Also, this goes without saying, but make sure you have enough free space on the external drive, or it may lock up once its out of space during an install(shouldnt really freeze from that though-usually just gives an error).

But shouldn't any game back up internal or external? And undead nightmare has the modded eboot, Also I tried the original backup manager version 1.1 and it backed up but during the end of the completion it said FWRITE FAIL!!! on the top bar but I tried playing it and it worked. So does it matter it said that message?

When backing up a game From bluray drive the last file usually copied is the ps3updat.pup in the update folder of the game disc this is not needed for the game to run next time you backup check to see last file being copied if this is case you should be okay.
P.s also i had problem with blackops turned out it was a tine finger print from holding the outer edge of disc clean it and try holding the disc from the centre hole.

thanks for the reply. What manager would you say to use to copy disc games is the best? And I was thinking if the freezing keeps happening, maybe install the 3.41 official firmware. Is that a good idea?

Multiman v1.12 is one im using has a good look gui and ive had no problems it also now has built in ftp

I looked at your guide but my external hardrive doesn't overheat I know that for sure I even tried backing up undead nightmare on a 16gb usb and still freezes.

man this is happening to me also. i tried backing up my fallout new vegas disc and freezes at 99% on 3.41 with at90usb162 flashed with hermes v4b. then i tried transferring one of my backups from my xhd to internal and i had the same issue. im not sure if the games are missing files or not. i tried rogero 7.8 and newest version of multiman with both of them freezing at 99%.

Any help guys??
