Hi, is it possible to play a 8GB AVCHD movie on my external? Is there software to split it up to 4GB and make the PS3 play it automatically without losing subtitles?

Get a movie editing program and split the movie into multiple parts. No splitter program is going to keep the headers intact for anything after the first file.

The tell whatever you're trying to run the file with the file information (encoding type, audio type, length of file, etc). Trust me, just get a movie editing program that can split AVCHD files. Check out VideoHelp.com - Forum, Guides, Tools and hardware lists for guides and freeware/software you can purchase.
