Hi,
I've stayed on 3.41 and using the dongle, mainly because I wanted to wait until things settled down and 'perfected' as much as possible.
Also because I get 0 freezes in all games..
I've checked the thread where the CFW and game managers are together, but I see so many posts saying how this freezes or that doesn't work and GT5 saves are corrupted etc.. why?
I'd like to upgrade simply but don't want an unstable system.
Can anyone please talk me into upgrading? :D

Best thing i ever did, iv never had any problems since i started using KMEAW firmware.I was on the ancient jailbreak dongle method like you are and upgraded 2 weeks ago.So much easier all new games work with eboots etc.Leave it up 2 u but 3.41 was the 1st jailbreak,things must surely develop and get easier.Your call but its better 4 me.

Well...I think those 3 words just about cover everything. Once you ditch the dongle you will kick yourself you didn't do it sooner!! I have tested 93 games personally...all work perfect! Game Updates available in game...and no modding or waiting for someone to mod eboot's to play the newest games!!
I don't want to be a CFW salesman but I think it's fair if you get testimonials from people for whom this option works to balance it with the negative.
I was strictly a Hermes payload player. PL3 would cause all sorts of problems to my system and eventually after trying to delete a bunch of games unsuccessfully, I reformatted my HDD (actually, I upgraded to a larger one at the same time), and installed Kmeaw's 3.55CFW.
Now I have all my old games back (minus some saves I forgot to back up or backed up incorrectly), and I don't have to do the button thing and I don't have to remember to eject the BD when I power off.
Plus, I can play POP Forgotten Sands now! Woot!
Also, I have GT5 running and have been playing it with my logitech wheel - sweet as!
All the games that played before for me play again. I only had one freeze (with POP trilogy), but when I rebooted it played fine and I haven't had a single freeze since.
The other thing you might consider is where is this all leading to. 3.50+ did take away stuff just as the firmwares after 3.15 did. Will there be a universal CFW? Will there be a better one if you base it off 3.41 rather than 3.55? There certainly won't be a better one based on 3.56!
Well, if 3.41 turns out to be better for any reason in future, guess what? You can downgrade to it from 3.55!
Now, granted you have to be careful with any change in FW and it might go pear-shaped on you for any reason (look, the forum's full of them), but the grass really is greener on the other side!

OK, I went ahead and did it!
Gaia won't see one of my games because it's in the GAMEZ and not GAMES directory.
MultiMan says 'BD emulation not working'
If I run Gaia, then quit, then run MultiMan it works!
I copied the game from GAMES to GAMEZ, works now!
Also FBNext needs the custom version (at the end of the thread dedicated to it), the one posted on it's first page doesn't work.
So basically, I've managed to get everything working one way or another, thanks to all the CFW salesmen that talked me into it!

I'm on 3.41, hermes 4b with 3.55 spoof ti84+. My backups are in the launch directory still from the original backup manager days (which I still have installed) but I use open manager 2.1f. Do I have to move them around? Not sure the best way to do that. I currently use ps3ftp and cuteftp but it doesn't move things.
I can't seem to find the guide to install kmeau. Is there one around here?

Does it matter that 3.56 is out (like will it try to push me to 3.56?)
Do the warning letters affect the decision to update though I don't care much about psn would like to not be seen.
The one post about CFW 3.55 has big red letters saying not to update... ?

This is the one you seen the RED letters in...but if you read it..it say not to update to 3.56!
You do not need to back anything up.
You do not need internet access to update to OFW 3.55 and then CFW 3.55
Forget 3.56...don't need to worry about that right now.
You stay of PSN...you dont get nagged to update to 3.56 AND you have nothing to fear about these letters. I personally do not have and never have had a PSN account...not interested in online play.
Go to the link above and read the RED text...it is warning not to update to 3.56....NOT anything about not updating to CFW 3.55!!
I'm still on 3.41 - installed CFW Hermes and using his payload pkg.
With MultiMan all my games (even the black screen ones) are running fine.
Well i need mod. Eboots for newer games, but it takes some seconds to download them...
