Anyone in the states doing NAND/NOR flashes?

Is anyone in the states doing NAND/NOR flashing? Reason I ask is because I have 2 situations here.

1. CECHK01 fatty with RSOD, I think the RSOD was due to failed hdd (and indeed the hdd did test bad) but my friend was impatient and followed some youtube video and tried to downgrade. Now, it's a YLOD brick.

2. Another fat unit (not sure of model just yet, waiting for my friend to e-mail me back) system is on 3.56 ofw, needs a downgrade because the blu-ray drive in it is bad. Has another BR drive, but can't downgrade the firmware.

So, was wondering if anyone in the states is doing NOR/NAND "external" reflashing, I could pay shipping both ways for the board. Or if you have any other suggestions I'm all ears. Thanks!

For item #2 your SOL. Unless you have an existing nand/nor dump from that specific console before 3.56 was flashed to it you wont be able downgrade it.

For item #1 ... It sounds like an issue a service mode dongle might be able to fix. Hopefully someone else can weigh in with more info since I've got very little experience with trying to fix a RSOD.

Ok so there's still no 3.56 downgrade yet even with a NOR/NAND flasher, thats too bad. I'll have to let my friend know he's SOL (I think he already figured he was, I doubt he has a fw backup before it got flashed to 3.56).

As far as the other one, if there's some way to do get the damn thing to boot (again it YLOD's) I have a friend with a teensy, so...

for number 2 if he has another br drive all he has to do is swap drives keeping original controler board and stick to official firmware till a cfw becomes available. you dont need to downgrade to swap drives as long as motherboard and controller board are a matching set

He can't just swap the drives on OFW. Even if the controller board is left intact. It has to be remarried, which is done with CFW.

According to the USBBitbanger thread you can downgrade from 3.56 with a NOR flasher but you would need to write the software right now as no one has done that part. The wiring etc is all finished but the guy behind it has been real busy so hope isn't lost, it is just that it has been developed yet.

NOR's are encrypted differently on seperate PS3's, you can't downgrade a ps3 unless you have a copy of the NOR before upgrading to 3.56+
