Any problems with downgrading? Any at all?

So I was wondering, are there any problems that exist with downgrading? Even in the slightest? With the Wii you had serious problems with downgrading in some cases as a lot of firmware revisions would leave stub system (IOS) files with higher version numbers, and by downgrading and re-upgrading it would cause particular system files to fail to write due to the system already carrying a higher version number. Are there any problems like this on the PS3? Do any remnants of later firmware revisions get left behind in the downgrading process? What this I'm reading about compromised BR drives with downgrades?

From first glance it looks almost as good as Pandora's Battery with a few exceptions of course. Having the ability to downgrade from 3.55 to 3.41 is nice to have, but I'm kind of unsure on what kind of effect it has for the console as a whole. Imo the Wii is a giant mess and I hate messing with that system. While it's a facinating machine to get to know and it was fun while it lasted, once you realise that doing one tiny thing could leave behind a massive mess which takes effort to reverse, it kind of loses it's appeal. I think the PS3 is the system I've been waiting for, I just wish I found things easier to understand. Maybe I just need more time...

if youre going to downgrade, make sure you do plenty of research prior to doing so. loosing blu ray playback is the only major concern i know of and its covered along with a solution in this thread. http://psx-scene.com/forums/f180/dow...-ur-ps3-77841/ (downgrading ur ps3) make sure you have the correct and latest tools and you should be good to go.
