Is any genuine cfw for PS3 4.00 out yet?
Is any genuine cfw for PS3 4.00 out yet? –

Greetings Folks!!!
This is my first post on this site. I apologize in advance for sounding like a dummy, but I am new at this.
I have recently bought a 160GB slim PS3 (about 3 months back, but its warranty is now void since I moved to India). Currently, it has v4.00 firmware on it, but it was shipped with v3.65 (verified with MiniVerChk). Since I was new, I was foolish enough to upgrade the firmware to v4.00 at the time. I have bought Resistance 3 game, but somehow, a crack started developing at the centre of the disc, and I have noticed that the crack grows the more I play the game, and I'm afraid the disc might just shatter into pieces someday. It plays fine as of now, but I want to be able to copy the game onto my ps3 int hdd and play it from there. I am not a fan of playing ps3 online, so that's not a concern if that facility gets disabled after jailbreak.
There are a few too many sites which offer jailbreak cfw for 4.00, but then, there also lots which say that these cfw's are fake. I can't seem to tell who's right and who's not.
Now, I wish to know:-
(1) Is there any stable and genuine cfw for 4.00 yet, using which I can backup and play my game from the int hdd?
(2) If not, is there a way to downgrade my ps3 firmware and then jailbreak it to achieve my purpose?
Thanks in advance. Cheers!!!

For the moment things are more cold that the cold war so I`ll go with no, but hey, at least keep your hopes up, as for the downgrading, I believe there is a dongle for that but I forgot the name, everyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong

I'm afraid you are out of luck for a 4.00cfw, also I'm pretty sure even the downgraders would not let you go back down to a firmware lower than what you machine was shipped with (which would be required for the highest CFW 3.55), sorry

Yep.. If only the original Jailbreakers had the SENSE and KNOWLEDGE to protect their work better. It might've been a different story.
Back to the OP:
I can't remember the specifics for downgrading, but look up the E3 flasher. It might be the solution best suited for you (If it in fact can downgrade from 4.00 (which I don't know if it can - I don't care
)).
And you won't be able to play resistance 3 anyways

As Platty stated. You can't downgrade down to what your PS3 shipped with. So you can only downgrade to 3.65. You need 3.55 to jailbreak.
If I were you I would not use that Resistance 3 disc anymore. If it breaks inside your machine, then it will be very difficult to get all the pieces out.

I don't believe we are going to see a new cfw soon. I hope for it but i don't think they are going to make one. The only solution seems to be TB.
As for the downgrading, i believe that his ps3, bought 3 months ago cannot be downgraded. But even if it is possible, you have to know that you are going to lose the warranty.

Well, apparently it's just not that easy. Otherwise it would be done. You are welcome to try to hack the drive yourself.
