I wish to upgrade from 3.41 Hermes CFW to 3.55 Kmeaw, can I simply do it straight from the XMB via USB stick? Without recovery mod, or even updating to OFW?

Second I want to upgrade my HDD is it better to do it before updating CFW or after? and when the system asks me to flash the firmware again after swapping HDD, can I directly use a CFW instead of a OFW?

    Thanks.

Hi, I recently did both things you ask about, I went about it by installing a new 500GB HDD first, I had downloaded the upgrade pack available on this site. I then sinply put the OFW on a USB stick and installed that. I finally put the CFW on a USB stick and upgraded to that. Each time I used XMB to install, I didn't need recovery or safe mode myself, everything went like a dream. I'm sure you'll appreciate the new HDD will need FAT32 formatting, but thats not too difficult.

If you look thorugh the thread related to this at the outset, there are not only the instructions in the pack, but several Q&A's which might help if you're in any doubts, so good luck with it, I'm sure you'll be fine. If you do get stuck, I did with the most basic of problems at one point, the forum here will assist provided you've at least tried yourself, but believe me, the instructions are easy and the whole process took me around 15-20 minutes including the HDD installation. I have Multiman as the front end and experienced no issues at all.
