Spoof your console to 3.55 and the shortcuts will appear.

How exactly does that work? Does the Sony server see the version and then add the links to the PS3 XMB?

4od and ITV were officially introduced on firmware 3.50, that's how you got them.

Oh ok. That's weird, so they had it there but didn't unlock until 3.50/3.55

I updated to 3.50 (twice) for GT5 but I don't remember the icons appearing? Probably just didn't noticed them though.

it wont work that way.. on the ps3 website it says to log into psn.. only then they would appear on your console.. however.. I had been on psn for like 2 weeks and nothing was there.. including the tv icon on the xmb!! i then went into the ps3's internal.. and i had no folders in the tv directory.. i looked around and created my own.. (also edited the xml files) now i have:
    bbc i player
    itv player
    4od
    now tv (american)

I specifically remember having my tv icon with bbc iplayer while i was on 3.41ofw.. my ps3 has been through allot though.. (restored database/file system)

I didn't have the TV category when i first got my PS3 slim even though it came with FW 3.50 (I downgraded to 3.41) but recently I got a cheap playTV and the disc installed the Tv category and PlayTV

So all i need to do is create folders in the internal HDD and edit xml? Any chance of a quick tutorial?

By the way are they shortcuts to websites or actualy programs? (i tried 4od through the web browser and i couldn't get any videos to play :S)
