    Hi,

I bought this new 3tb seagate flex desktop harddrive dedicated for ps3. I actually wanted to use this harddrive as a secondary data storage because i already have multiple 1tb 's with me for ps3 game back up.

Now, it would be great if my games show up on the ps3. Unfortunately it does'nt.

Partition 1 : 1.87TB FAT32 (GAMEZ DIRECTORY)- using latest multiman
Partition 2 : 930mb NTFS ( FOR DUMPING NORMAL PC DATA)

I did the same setup for my colleague earlier, but it used to show up on the ps3.
Now , in my console it just reads for 5 seconds and doesnt display the games. But just shows that there is a usb hdd symbol at the bottom

Please note : This hdd is usb 2,0 and usb 3.0 compatible, But my colleague's was only usb2.0 compatible

Wasn't it pretty much confirmed long ago that the PS3 cannot utilise, or even see, external HDDs above 2TB?

The problem with most 3TB HDD's is that they're USB 3.0. In order to use them on a PS3 you need a powered USB hub between the PS3 and the HDD. There was a whole thread about it when the 3TB WD Scorpio External HDD came out a couple of months ago.

I'm pretty sure it had to be a powered up....you can try a non powered one. Something about the connector not being directly recognized or something like that if I remember right.

so your saying a 3tb will work if it is usb 2.0?
2.0 drives are much cheaper anyways and no computers even use 3.0 yet really
