    Hi all

Is it possible to play 3D movies from a file or a Blu ray on a PS3 with a jailbreak?
I want to know this because I'm considering a 3D beamer for my home theater setup.

    Thanks

Afaik it's possible on 3.50 or 3.55, but the PS3 wasn't made for playing 3D movies, and you'll get a lower quality than if you had a true 3D bluray player.

Im not really sure but if you had a cobra usb dongle I think you could but if you are on 3.55 I think so but like the other guy said it wouldn't give you the quality of a blu ray player... but still try

Well, I believe that the Blu-ray playback of the PS3 is pretty good, the issue is with 3D movies. The PS3 doesn't have HDMI 1.4, which is the standard for 3D blu-ray. They still managed to give it the ability to read them, but they had to make sacrifices (lower quality audio, not sure if there's anything else).

Yep, that's right. They downgraded the quality of the audio greatly to free bandwidth for the 3D signal.

3D playback was introduced in firmware 3.50. But like Pereb said, it would be a smarter idea to get a blu-ray player that is truly meant for 3D movies.

Forgive me for sounding noob but dont you needs a hd tv capable of 3D in the 1st place? So Sony's 3.50 3D blu ray playback was a joke?

Yea, of course you need a TV capable of displaying 3D. But on that TV the input source would have to support 3D also

The projector that I want to buy is a Acer H5360BD :
    DLP™ HD 720p - 1280 x 720 - 3200:1 - 2500Lm (NVIDIA 3D & DLP 3D) - Analog & HDMI 1.4 - 2x Digital Zoom - CBII+ - Blu-Ray 3D - 32dB - 2.2KG - Bag - Eco

So it doesn't need to be Full HD.
