3.60 CFW req.

Hello everyone!

I bought my ps3 some months ago just to jailbreak it and live the good life as a pirate

BUT
the console I bought was already on 3.60 (bought it from a friend) and I was pretty sure a new 3.60 jb would be coming soon.
Well, you all know that a 3.60 jb hasn't come out and I'm still waiting patient.

Just of curiosity I was wondering whats requiered to do an USB jailbreak like Geohots?

Is there any hope for an 3.60 jailbreak where you put it on a USB and instal it like the 3.55?

What's a stupid question. No piracy is tolerated here. Jailbreak has nothing to do with piracy. Jailbreak main and only purpose is to let u use yours own programs and utilites and share them. Emulators, utilites, showtimes, ftp, web server...

If CFW>355 is real u will be quickly informed here on this accurate psx news.
So please sell your ps3 half the price (just upgrade to OFW before) and buy yourself a XBOX360 if u want to play at latest games without paying the developpers and get cops and fbi to keep u in jail.

You can always have hope of 3.56+ CFW.
Doesn't mean it's going to happen any time soon.

Your best bet would be to trade consoles with another friend who has a console with a lower firmware or sell the one you bought and find another one to buy.
That way, you could use the CFW to make backup copies of the games that you legitimately own.

Ask your friend if he has upgraded his console to 3.6X from 3.55. That way you can downgrade back via hardware method and have custom firmware.

Pay no attention to megatoto. While piracy isn't tolerated meaning no linking to piracy, it's fine to admit that you are one. And the chance of the cops showing up to your door is nil unless you're the center of some massive copyright infringement circle. Same for the FBI who is on a fixed budget and is more interested in people that lie on their tax returns.

As for your question, I'm afraid not. It may be some time before we see a CFW beyond 3.56. If DH JFW is to be believed it might not be necessary, however that would still leave you in the dark. I'd say come back in about a year. Perhaps someday one of the white hats will be kind enough to release the keys, until then it's up to the black hats to figure something out.

And again, I apologize for megatoto. He's but a small part of this community. A very loud minority at best.

Downgrading via usb stick is not possible. Like I said earlier you need a hardware flasher in order to downgrade your console. And you cannot downgrade past your stock( i.e the firmware that it came with when you or in this case when your friend bought it.) It will result in a brick

If I were you, I'd trade it in. I bought my system the moment the 3.41 exploit came out. I expected that Sony would close the hole as fast as possible. I just didn't expect the degree at which they attacked everyone.

The good news is that if the system is in good condition you could probably get $200 out of it depending on which model it is. eBay and Amazon are good places to unload it. I'd personally stay away from Craigslist if I were you since advertising the ownership of expensive hardware tends to bring the REAL thieves out. That's just me though.

Of course if you had the funding, you could keep it for 3.56+ games and try locating a PS3 at Gamestop. Some of them will plug it in and show you the current firmware. Others have white knights working the counters. Most of them are cool with it. You'll know real fast if a White Knight is working the counter.

That is awesome. If only my PS2 mod chip would have been as elegant. Though I wish the makers would have put a better face plate over the lights. It's something for me to consider in two years if the scene doesn't have a break through and emulation research isn't started.

I do like how it will work on newer unhackable consoles. 90$ + tax isn't too bad a price either for what it does. Read as, saves you from needing another system. I guess it's really the best for newcomers since hackable systems will only get scarcer as time marches on.
