Sorry if this has been answered, but i can not find an answer anywhere.

i decided to take my chances and install 3.55, installed fine, no problems, then i installed geo's patch, agian, installed fine no problems.
all pkg's install fine, but when i try to launch them, it just black screens.

my disk drive is broke, but im pretty sure my BD-board is fine, as the 3.55 ofw installed just fine.

ive tryed a few different packages, and nothing, still black screen.

i got the packages from all over, some from here, some from torrents.

i installed both the OFW and geo's 3.55 via XMB.

i had similar problems, i reinstalled the CFW released after geohotz's jailbreak (the 170mb updat), then geohot's jailbreak both using recovery and it worked perfect.

also, i got my pkg's strictly from these links: http://psx-scene.com/forums/f118/lis...ew-apps-75092/ (List of Signed Homebrew Apps)

    ill give that a try.
    thanks for the advice.
this is actualy a pretty common problem. a google search brings up a few people who have found no answers, hopefully this helps ^_^

He is talking about Geohots 3.55 which does not have peek&poke. The 3.55 peek&poke cfw will not run those packages.

i am talking about http://psx-scene.com/forums/f6/ps3-3...ow-work-75196/ (PS3 3.55 CFW WITH PEEK/POKE! - BACKUP MANAGERS CAN NOW WORK!) (so yes peek poke)

i don't know why you're saying it won't run it?

after you use OFW or CFW, you need to install geohot's jb fw (the 5 kb file). then u can install the pkg's.

I just told you what i did in my situation, if you use OFW then geohot's jb fw, you will be able to install those pkgs.

my problem was just the same (black screen) so i used the recovery method and it worked out. i dont remember if i could get geohot's jb to install through recovery, if not i think i just installed it using xmb.

hope it helps, im not experienced in this at all, i just offered my fix.

also: i dont know if the bluray problem has to do with it, i would assume not since coding wise i dont see a reason to call on the drive to run homebrew from hdd

If im not mistaken, geo never released a whole firmware. he only released a patch, it was in a update pup around 6mb in size.

the only cfw i know of that is 170mb is kakarotos, and the modified one with peek poke.

my blue ray drive is busted, but my board is fine.
and thats all you need to run HB, at lest for 3.41 that was true..

im gona try to reinstall in recovery mode..
