3.55 KMEAW CFW new eboots
3.55 KMEAW CFW new eboots –

Ok i havent really been keeping up with the PS3 scene for about 6-8 months.
i still have my jailbroken 3.55 KMEAW CFW Fat PS3, and ive seen the new wave of new eboots being released.
my question is how do i get these games to play? is this just like the previous eboots, where you just replaced the eboots in the games and run them? Or do you need to convert your PS3 from CEX2DEX or something? im sorry if this is a stupid question, but im really curious as i want to get back into the PS3 Scene.
Thanks in advance.

There are 2 kinds of fix today to be able to play 3.6x+ games on 3.5 CFW
1. EBOOT - where you need to replace the patched EBOOT.BIN under USRDIR of the game that the EBOOT is compatible to. Also before doing that, rename the original EBOOT.BIN first to EBOOT.BIN.BAK we cant tell what will happen in the future so better get this things backup just to be sure.
2. PKG patches - this is where you need to install the PKG (through *Install Package Files) to be able the game, you dont have to touch the game files itself. These PKG are usual update PKG for the games, they were patched for them to work on 3.55 without touching any game files, you can even play your legit disc by just installing the patch.

CEX to DEX allows you to convert your cex (retail console) into a dex (dev test console) and will allow you to upgrade and downgrade to any debug firmware. This is not needed to be able to play these latest eboot patches.

sorry to ask so many questions, but what is the reason for needing to convert from CEX to DEX tho?

It will allow you to update and downgrade to any debug firmware. ex. you could update to 4.21 debug firmware and be able to run alot of games that require a higher firmware to run the game if your hard drive is partitioned using PSGEN - and be able to downgrade back to 3.55 whenever you want.
If you need more info about cex2dex please check out the cex2dex forum section - you will find alot of useful info that will answer most if not all questions you have.

Switching to DEX allows you to play retail discs that are not playalbe on 3.55. Also, there is a built in Blu-Ray emulator that allows for backup of games unplayable on 3.55. I think the games need an official patch to work on the BD emulator, so not all games can be ran like this.
