3.55 CFW Kmeaw brick. User fault. Tried updating on 3.50 FW machine
3.55 CFW Kmeaw brick. User fault. Tried updating on 3.50 FW machine –
Firstly I want to apologize, that the first post in this great community is cry for help, which is often the case Anyway, I want to share my experience regarding PS3 and Kmeaw CFW.
Recently, I had purchased PS3 Slim 250GB (CECH-2003B), which was kind of bricked. The first owner tried to install Kmeaw CFW, but apparently he did not read enough and did CFW update on 3.50 machine. Yes, you are reading right. He tried to update to 3.55 CFW from 3.50
So now, when I turn console. The power LED goes to green, then the light goes to amber (or yellow), 3 beeps and afterwards red blinking light.
To conclude, I have have tried to get into recovery menu using the following guide ( PS3-Hacks.com / Red Screen Of Death (RSOD) aka 'Brick' Repair ). Didn't help, I think it is because no power is supplied to USB ports.
So, my dear fellows, do you have any ideas, what should I do next ?
Thank you !
upgrading to 3.55 from 3.50 should be fine, to be 100% sure yep some go to 3.55 OFW before the CFW install, but i reckon this has nothing to do with his update as you have been led to believe.
You need to go into recovery mode to reinstall the FW, NOT service mode as you have linked.
Edit, quick search for recovery mode
OK. Managed to enter recovery mode...
Here is haow managed to do it:
1. First turn off ps3.
2. Now press on / off button until it beebs it shuts down again.
3. Then press on / off until you hear double beep. After double beep, just release button.
Sure its a brick and no YLOD (Or does that always ends in a yellow light? Thought it was pretty hard to brick a PS3 with kmeaw (without unexpected losing power/freeze/whatever)?
sounds like you bought someones ylod problem.
Thank you for advice, but no luck there. Could not get into recovery mode. Bloody thing just gets beeping. Getting the same sequence: green, amber, 3 beeps, blink red light.

Hmm, heating could be done using same method as for phat PS3 version ?

sorry about my English.
I bought a ylod ps3 few weeks ago. and than, I repair it and try it back to work.
after 2 or 3 days, It's back !!
in this time, I found kmeaw 3.55. so I update from 3.50 to 3.55.
updating bar always around 40% than stop, tell me to unplug my power.
I do the screen told me. It doesn't help. cause the same problem.
I format the HDD. more worse. become YLOD !
next, I try to run in recovery mode. ==> beep! no screen !!!
I guess the bios is damage of update, cause that happen.
few days later, I bought a 40g PS3 HDD, v3.50. cost me $12
change my HDD, hit the switch. ==> beep! no screen !!!
I'm so disappointed
but I fix it !!! just few hours ago. hope my experience can help u.
The tools u need :
1. a Controller with "PS" button. (I bought a new one, expensive than PS3! I try to use PS2's analog button, doesn't work.)
2. a Hairdryer. (yes, u need it)
3. a USB flash driver. (to update firmware)
I think my PS3 already dead. so I use hairdryer on it.
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHMW7XR59Fw"]youtube[/ame]but not the same like it shows me. I put my hand on PS3, feel the heat.
use it about 3 or 5 minutes and without cooling down.
I replug the power. ==> Connect the controller using a USB cable !!!!!
yes, now u can see the screen.
press the PS button, format HDD. when u finish, turn it off and unplug the power.
find an Offical 3.55 firmware than put it on ur flash driver(format it first) x:\PS3\UPDATE
plug the power back on, than directly into recovery mode.
use update from ur USB device.
YOUR PS3 IS BACK !!
but the ylod issue still there
You'll never solve YLOD problem with any kind of dryer (especially - hairdryer). Actually, your problem is going to be worse. With every "heat" session you're damaging your PS3. The proper solution is BGA Reballing. For example:
And there is no link between CFW 3.55 and YLOD issue.
We should assume that PS3 is upgrade from YLOD. just like mine.

than I directly update from 3.50 to 3.55 cfw and cause this happen(updating loop)
so I format my PS3 HDD, cause black screen.
I saw this video before.
and realize that YLOD only can repair in BGA reballing.
I have no tools and knowledge about that
hairdryer is a temporary solution to let PS3 back to normal.
