how can i preserve the saves and trophyes if possible?

Sony hasn't been banning people for going legit. Just delete anything that doesn't need to be there off your internal HDD and update.
so can i put the 3.56 with all homebrews, sync the trophies and then format the internal hdd?
why ask again when he clearly said delete all illegal stuff and homebrew stuff THEN update

3.56 OFW is a noob move if you ask me, Sony could ban your ass at a later date for crap you have run on your PS3, they may just not have done compiling their "evidence" against you yet and then you are left with a worthless PS3 that can't go online or run backups

no offense, but i don't believe those people were entirely honest about their innocence either.
ofcourse, Sony would still ban you if you cheated online or played a leak of KZ3 before release before upgrading to 3.56
