3.50 Problem! –
12-12-2010,07:26 AM
Hey everyone,
I've got a problem here. I have the PS3Break v1.1 installed with the newest firmware (PS3Break Firmware1.7). This morning I wanted to play a game (Bayonetta) and started my ps3 up as I normally do. Opened OpenManager 2.1I-2 choose Bayonetta and put a disc in so I could play.
Now the weird thing happened. My ps3 made a noise I never heard before, like it was struggling to read the disc. I ejected the disc and tried again. Didn't work. For curiosity I went and look if I was still at 3.41, but I wasn't! I was at 3.50... while I didn't update at all.
I went and looked up a downgrade guide and successfully downgraded it. I installed OM 2.1I-2 again and also blackbox FTP.
Now just to be sure I went and look at my system information again, it's 3.50. While I didn't do anything. I began to think logical. The newest update of firmware has as 3.50 spoof, could this be why it shows it 3.50 while in reality it's 3.41? OM2.1-I and blackbox seem to work though. I haven't put a game on the system yet to try if the game works.
Also just to be sure, I just made conection with my ps3 with the help of blackbox ftp. In which directory does the games come again?
I know it's: /dev_hdd0/ but what comes afterwards? I have a GAMEZ folder but it's empty, and I recall there's another folder that needs to be there.

yes 3.50 is just being spoofed if you have the install package tab, if OM uses that folder then no nothing else is there until games are installed

So then I downgraded for nothing... well there goes all my data ^^
But what I find weird, why did my PS3 make those noises while I put in a game disc so I could play Bayonetta. It never happened before.

Sorry for double posting, but it seems to work now. Could it be that I have mt ps3 up side wise and not on it for legs that the disc can't be read?

I don't think it makes a difference tbh. Although it sounds like the same problem I had about 6 months ago, PS3 didn't read the disc (made a strange noise) so I ejected and put it back in... It read the disc. Within 3 weeks it wouldn't read PS3 games or Blu-rays but DVDs, PSX and PS2 games all read first time. I tried everything, including a lens cleaner, which worked for about 2 weeks, but then it wouldn't read them again. Eventually I opened the thing up, using a guide off youtube, cleaned the lens with a Q-tip and no problems since!!!
Hopefully it's just a one-off for you, But if you do have to go down that route it's really easy to do!!
