3.41 update downloads, are they region dependent?

Hi,

I have downloaded the 3.41 from a couple of sources. One of them mentions it is USA, but others dont mention it at all.

Am I able to update to a PAL system with a firmware obtained as a USA release or do I need to get a pal version of the firmware, if any?

I downloaded my 3.41 from here:

Worked fine on my PAL Playstation.

So far the OS/firmware releases are multi region (USA/PAL/JAP), same data/file (bit for bit) is used for all consoles across regions

This is true, exactly like the PSP updates.

Ok great.

I keep having the issue of having to restoring my PS3 as it says its corrupt, I cant even boot it anymore. First few times I had to do it when I put it on (as its a new PS3 since yesterday)

Should I take it out and format it on PC instead?

5 times in a row now. Cant get into the main menu. "Hard disk file system is corrupt and needs to be restored"

did the error occur after you did the 3.41 update from that source you downloaded?

why don't you try the one from eurasia.nu
