From 3.41 with PS3Break 1.2 to OFW
From 3.41 with PS3Break 1.2 to OFW –

Hello.
I have registered an account here, because I have to ask someone else about this now.
I have been searching on Google for the last couple of days looking for a solution for a Playstation 3 I purchased which came with 3.41 according to the system, and a PS3Break 1.2 dongle.
I have been using it for a couple of months now, but as I can see from a lot of other forum threads there are a lot of disadvantages with running on this old configuration.
I have tried to update to the latest firmware 4.00 through the internet and via USB, but every time I get a message about the data being corrupt.
It simply cannot update to OFW again. Is it even possible? And if not, what other alternatives is there?
Best regards,
Siepher

hello Siepher
i dont know why you want to update to 4.0 because you will lose the ability to jailbreak the ps3. About the updating problem try to use the recovery menu and update from there.
but if you update more that 3.55 version you can forget the jailbreak at least for now.

Yeah, I know.
But the Playstation 3 is for someone else, and after a long discussion about all the hassle with having a jailbroken PS3, he ended up wanting one running on the latest OFW.
The recovery menu, is that the one you can access by holding down the power button until your hear the two beeps? Because I've already been there, trying to update, but I get the same Data Corrupt message from there. There's nothing wrong with the update, I tried downloading it on the PS3 and I tried it on a USB stick.

Is their anything wrong with the system, such as a broken blu-ray lens?

No, not as far as I can tell. The bluray drive is working just fine.

Did you go to the PS website, and download the official update, and try that?

Yeah, I guess I should have gone ahead and tried that. I'll look for a way to install Kmeaw 3.55 on the system. I'll update the thread once I know more.

i guess he got that problem where your ps3 won't read any update file.. and i bet that even his ps3 shows it's a 3.41 , but when you enter the recovery mode it will show that it needs 3.56 (that happened when sony updated the ps3 silently if you went online).
many people talked about a pup 3.56 v2 ..but that didn't solve the problem..maybe you could try using "Toggle QA" and downgrade then upgrade ..but before trying it , ask more experienced devs
good luck
