3.41 Hermes v4 USERS READ!

If you are considering updating to a 3.55 CFW, you should be aware that none of them run from a Hermes payload.

I think it all now depends on if you're willing to use Kakaroto's PL3 to run backups and accept its hundreds of bugs and get PSN access at the same time or wait for a Hermes v4 3.55 CFW and bow down as the ultimate.

Waninkoko's 3.55 CFW uses PL3. Very buggy, very unstable. But backup managers work.

Wutangrazas 3.55 CFW also uses PL3 (as far as I'm aware, proove me wrong!!!). So they are nearly equal at this time. The only drawback to Wutang is that it requires the install of a PKG every time on system boot to run backup managers.

They both suffer from various unneccersary freezes and a Hermes v4 3.55 CFW from either Waninkoko or anyone else is clearly the answer to all this.

1) Using extra exclamation points makes you sound uneducated
2) PL3 = just as buggy and shitty as Hermes v4b
3) If you're just now figuring this out, you're a sad one indeed.

I think you are wrong, but I am willing to listen to a valid reason (which you didn't provide.) My reason for thinking you are wrong is that I have used both payloads at different point throughout my testing and can honestly say that both have good points and bad. I'm not flaming just saying that if you gave us a reason I may be swayed to agree with ya. As I read your above post you do not appear to have done so. Why is Hermes our answer?

i'm on 3.41 hermes v4b 160 ps3 slim and i have never had a freeze!

No it doesn't. All the major backup managers are incorporating permission fix and lv2 patch into the managers themselves, so there's no need to run anything other than the manager to play backups.

They are still based around PL3 though, so there are stability issues.

I always had better game compatibility with Hermes4b on 3.41. If it becomes available on 3.55 CFW, I will use it, no doubt.

lv2 patcher has support for custom payloads; you would have to port hermes to 3.55.

noobs love hermesv4b and so do people who never use retail mode or play games off disc.

if you arent one of those, then odds are you understand pl3 and dont think its a peice of crap like the OP does. thats about the only difference between the two payloads that most see.

Only one freeze in 200 hours (Uncharted), using Gaia and hermes v4b. I dont have interest in cfw, not until bring something NEW along hype. It must be a begining, even with bugs. I wait for better releases....and MOST important thing, i dont have TIME for experiments nor LIVE and dozens of online mini games. I have consoles from 15 years now, and i think i received a idea of what games deserve to be played.

I miss the ps2, without daily updates and rest. Thanks, and excuse my bad english (is not my first language).

Waninkoko's 3.55 CFW uses PL3.
Wutangraza's 3.55 CFW and kmeaw's CFW do not use PL3. They include a small LV1/2 patch from flukes1.
LV2 patcher PKG installs essential parts of PL3 in a safe way (without modifying the flash). BTW, if you had stability issues, try the latest version of lv2.pkg.
kmeaw's CFW differs from Wutangraza's by having unsigned packages support and jailbreak(+app_home) integrated, so you don't need to install geohot's jb on top of it.
