3.41 Hermes to Rebug 4.21? Maintain rollback ability.

So right now I'm on Hermes 3.41. I would like to upgrade to Rebug 421.1. I had a question of procedure.

I was going to follow the following procedure: Install Rebug 355.3 REX, Install Toolbox, Enable QA Flag, then Upgrade to Rebug 421.1.
Would this be the correct way of going about things?

If I ever wanted to return to 3.41 Hermes, could I? I worry as when I attempted to install 3.55 Rex, it warned me I could never downgrade again.
Is there a way to upgrade from 3.41 Hermes to 355.3 Rebug REX while still maintaining the ability to downgrade? Is the solution to enable the QA flag on 3.41? If so, which program would you recommend.
The ability to downgrade from 421.1 to 3.55 if the QA flag was set is well discussed. A little more info on my situation would be greatly appreciated.

yep you can upgrade to 4.21.1REX just upgrade to 3.55.3REX (from XMB direct) and enable QA then once you QA'd your PS3, just go to Debug Settings and enable System Debug Update. Once your done with that, remove blu-ray discs, external HDD, SD cards, anything that is a storage device but not with the one you will be using to update to 4.21.1REX

Once done, just go to XMB and choose System Update then choose Update from Removable Device, then it will look up the 4.21.1REX, just install it and pray that your electric company doesnt pull a trick on you (sudden electrical outage).

As of downgradability, yes you can, just install 999 downgrade pup once in there, by default your QA is enabled, now with that, just put your 3.41CFW on your PS3 and it should install just fine though System Update on XMB. Downgrade method in this doesnt require dongles, so better not touch any of it.

I'm glad you posted this topho as I'm in a similar position myself but on 3.41 OFW + JB dongle (I can still play some of the latest games like Sleeping Dogs, NFS:MW, TekkenTagTour2 etc)

Does this mean I can go back to 3.41 OFW and my dongle as well? I know it seems crazy because it's a step backwards, I need to wait for eboot fixes etc but I just want to know I have that safety net just in case.
