    Create a folder on the storage media in which to save the update data. Using a PC, create a folder named “PS3” on the storage media or USB device. Within the PS3 folder, create a folder named “UPDATE”.

    Download the update data and save it in the "UPDATE" folder

    Be sure to save the update data as noted below. If the data is not saved in the correct way, the PS3™ system will not recognize the update data. The folder name must be in all uppercase letters.
    Location: Save in the “PS3” folder > “UPDATE” folder
    File name: Save as file name “PS3UPDAT.PUP”.

    For obvious reasons, do not download the firmware from the link i posted as it is 3.50

    @ravihpa thanks for the link.
    I have downloaded the 3.41 firmware. but what does this mean "This works with PS Jailbreak. Make sure you verify the MD5 before install!"??
    Verify the MD5?? What should i do before installing it??

    Lookup a program that can calculate the md5 hash for a file (there are lots on google), then compare the number generated from your file with the one posted in the online database.

    Arguably there are two copies of 3.41 floating around (one that has issues with replacement HDDs, and one that has that fixed), although always a good move to check, in case Sony ever wanted to release a third that contained the patch for jb devices.

    grab hashtab app for windows or osx. Puts a hash check tab in windows explorer, so you can just right click the file, go to properties and see the md5 and even compare in it.

    Thanks guys for the help.
    Hashtab worked like a charm. Now then i got the md5 for the file and its time for comparison, where can i compare it and see if i got the real deal? @Conundrum you talked about some online database. Where can i find this database?
