3.15OFW -> 3.55CFW Questions
Hi, long time lurker, first time poster.
I have been following the development of the scene for months and months now, and now CFW is pretty much here, I feel a lot happier about joining in.
I always thought that Linux was going to be the route for a CFW to need to be signed by doing some dump from within Linux, but it seems that Overflow and George seemed to put a Halt to that plan.
My PAL UK 60Gb 1st Gen Phat BC PS3 is completely unmodified in any way, and I have been able to live without PSN up until now on my 3.15FW
I went to play Wipeout and SuperStarDustHD at the weekend and they both title updated, then demanded minimum 3.30, so much for "its your choice if you upgrade the fw and loose linux" then sony.
Anyway, I am not too bothered about not having linux, and think I will probably just go straight from 3.15 to 3.55OFW, let the scene settle for a day or two, then maybe apply a 3.55CFW.
The point of this post was to ask the following.
Is there any reason I would want to upgrade to 3.41 THEN 3.55?
Is there anything I can do with my old firmware/access to linux I can't do on a newer FW/without Linux? (I don't know what a NAND dump is for example)
Am I correct in thinking that the largest practical HDD upgrade (640gb) can only be tranferred via the dash under 3.55OFW? Should I do this perhaps before upgrading the FW?
Thanks in advance
