Well I got another pcb logic board, one that is in BEAUTIFUL condition and hooked it up to the ps3 and guess what? THE DISC STILL DONT GET SUCKED IN. But you get the blue light flashing. Also heres something that may or may not be different, I tried to rebuild the database lastnight, it litterally only took 20 secounds or so to complete. Now the HDD doesnt really have anything on it but EVERYONE has told me it takes hours to rebuild the database.

i hate to be the one that says, "i told you so", but, i told you so! other than the little snap i heard from the tiny sliver of metal from the hdd caddy, every symptom you describe is exactly what i experienced on mine. it isnt the controller card, it's the controller on the motherboard FOR the controller card....

I believe my sir you are correct in this one. The only way it wouldnt be the motherboard is if by some chance I got two bad blu rays from the same shop, I daught that though. It just blows to spend the money on all the new parts just to get no where......On the bright side though I got a ton of parts that are useable for another refurb project......

that's how i ended up with a "spare" bluray drive! it'll all work out though; you just need to be patient. that one ps3 i had with your same problem ended up going back to sony for their "trade-in" program with broken 20/60gb consoles & i ended up with a 120gb ps3 slim... and then 6mo after that i met a guy who was looking for an original ps3 slim black case. i had been contemplating the idea of a different case for my slim and that guy was willing to trade a cechg 40gb ps3 missing its single laser bluray for a ps3 slim black case. needless to say, i ended up with a jailbroken 40gb ps3 after i re-married the extra bluray drive i had, AND my ps3 ended up being chrome! i never did like the matte finish of the slim, and now it's a superb conversation piece whenever someone new walks into my living room!

if it's already v3.55 ofw, it'll be VERY easy to flash to v3.55 cfw... just a matter of going into the recovery menu and choosing "system update" with v3.55 cfw on a usb thumb drive.
