1 Jailbroken PS3 and 1 PSN ps3

Hey guys I'm sort of new at this, and looking for advice...

I basically want 2 PS3s...1 for PSN (Madden,COD, etc) and 1 for (single player ps3 backups, SNES,Genesis, PS2, etc.)

I am currently using one of the 1st 20 G 4 USB FAT PS3s with 3.56 (PSN) ,

But I am looking into getting another PS3 just to hack/mod/jailbreak so I can run PS2, SNES, Genesis, and PS3 backups....(basically a Gaming system)

I need advice from experienced modders....what should I do?
what are my best options? (ext. hard drive? TB Hardrive? new slim? refurbished fat? 80 g? 360 g? x3max dongle? amazebreak dongle? ps3break dongle? 3.41? 3.55?)

The version of the PS3 (excluding ofw 3.56) makes no difference, particulary if you are considering upgrading the hdd.

I would suggest you use an internal (laptop hdd) as big as possible (max 750gb without mods) and kmeaw 3.55 cfw for the gaming machine.

So any Slim? with an external HDD to back up all my games in (I would rather use my PS3 over my laptop to be honest; I know pc can be much more powerful, but I want to just use pc for Work not play)...using kmeaw 3.55 cfw? correct?

1? Do new Slims come with 3.56 or any other OFW thats impossible to downgrade/jailbreak already? and I guess Gigs don't matter right? since I'm getting ext. HD anyways?

2?why is the kmeaw 3.55 more logical over 3.41 in this case? and

3?what device would be best to Jailbreak? (amaze, x3max, or ps3break)...or is there no need of a dongle anymore?

1. Not yet if your lucky a frend of mine just bought a new slim last week and it came with 3.50. Gigs doesn't matter just buy the cheapest one because your gonna upgrade the hdd. Best to buy and 750GB 2,5" hdd for internal usage. Because the backups you'll put on the internal or external hdd only function as a disc. Most games need to install game data and that is stored on the internal hdd. (some games use 4 or 5GB gamedata)

2. Kmeaw is everything you need if you stay on 3.41 you'll need an usb dongle and need to start up de ps3 with power and quickly eject. If you use 3.55 kmeaw you can just turn on the ps3 on your couch with the controller and you can use game updates. And you'll never have to leave the couch as long if you have a blueray disc in side the ps3.

3. Just install 3.55 Kmeaw and no need of a dongle.

now one more question...i've been reading that you need to have OFW 3.55 first before you go to Kmeaw 3.55...how the heck am i going to do that from lower? aren't they going to ask me to update to the latest, 3.56?

There are plenty of good tuts on this in the forums.

You can download the 3.55 OFW and update to it via recovery method. Then update to kmeaw 3.55. Do not use the xmb to update otherwise you will end up on 3.56.

Well i went out and got a Used FAT PS3 within 24 hours of posting this thread (180 bucks):call2:

So i got 2..
1. 40 G FAT (CechHH01) no BC (backwardscomp.) Jailbroken 3.55 Kmeaw
2. 20 G FAT (Cech HHB01) w. BC which I use it for PSN Games 3.56

PROBLEM: I Jailbroke the one with no BC (Ps2 Backwards Comp.)
I wanted to have BC to play and backup up ps2 games but i Jailbroke the wrong PS3...

what can i do now? what should i do?
will there be a ps2 emulator?
can i swap the HDDs? help/ advice please.

There is no downgrader for 3.56 so even if you used the BC one for 3.56 you will be unable to use the 3.56 one for jailbreak. Swapping hdd will not work.

Im not sure if there is a PS2 emulator or not, perhaps its worth starting a new thread with that question (search first!)

20 g (launch) w. BC (backwards comp) on 3.56 for PSN n Online gaming
40 g no BC (backwards comp) on 3.55 kmeaw

1.) i would've liked to have ps2 backups/loaders on my jailbroken ps3 (if anyone has any suggestions...)

2.) im using multiman and gaia...multiman freezes at 99% when copying but the copy comes out fine and i heard some managers are better than others when it comes to certain games..(if anyone can shed some light there please...)

3.)im going to eventually get a 640 gig internal for my Jailbroken ps3, but for now im going to backup ps3 games on the internal and play them off there and just use the external for SNes, genesis roms. (if anyone has any suggestions or opinions here too....)
