[Tutorial] Downgrade PS3 3.50 using P3GO!

Yesterday I did a downgrade of a friend's CECHK (one of the fat ones) with my recently acquired P3GO. Followed the tutorial and voila, 3.42 became 3.41 without any loss to BR movie functionality. Thanks a lot for the tutorial.

I buy yesterday my slim PS3 160 GB. I verifiy the FW and was 3.42. I buy this dongle with the PS3, so i try follow your tut. My dongle says v10, so the update was successful. Then i try the downgrade. I follow step by step the tutorial and when i verify the system information (out of safe mode) says 3.41. Of course i was happy, my first downgrade and was successful... I remove the downgrade.bin of the P3GO and try my first jailbreak, i switch off the PS3, put the P3GO on the left USB, switch on and then press ON and quickly eject, blue and red led of the P3GO on, the 2 blue leds but when the screen of "Sony Playstation 3" appear, the red led go on again, and in the XMB says the USB is not recognised. I try follow the jailbreak steps over and over and nothing, always the same message, USB dont recognised.
Then i look system information again and surprise... now the FW says 3.5 :O ... I dont know what happen, i never go online, i never try other FW, i use the files of this topic.

Another question, this is my P3GO root, but i see your screen and the folder has other folder, this is my root:

...same problem different day. I tried all your suggestions with the same result. Just curious....if I update to 3.55 do you think it'll get me out of Factory Service Mode? I know it can't be jailbroken after that but at least I can play the games I already own.

Downgrading and the lv2diag.self files don't work (yet) with 3.55.. so no downgrading nor jailbraking

You are using a version of the P3GO that simulates that you are on 3.50 to help you avoiding the upgrade (this method of simulation is called spoof of 3.50)
most recently appeared a version for other board called 3.55 spoofing. All it does is tell sony that you are on 3.55 but in reality you are on 3.41 (3.55 spoofing = simulating 3.55)
Do you understand? This can be done simply to avoid the upgrade of your PS3 being upgraded to 3.55 (for real) and losing jailbreak!
Any question just ask!

This tutorial:
* Only works for 3.50 and lower!!!
* There is no downgrade and there is no jailbrake to 3.55 yet!!!


[lang=pt]Before starting the tutorial you are going to need a couple of files:

• DGF.rar (167.48 MB) (which contains the modified PUP for 3.41 and Lv2diag.self FILE 1 and Lv2diag.self FILE 2)
• 20101208-2-downgrade.rar (which contains the upgrade for P3GO downgrade and downgrade.bin to put your PS3 in factory/service mode)
• A clean pen formatted to fat32

After this you need to plug in your P3GO to your computer like this:


YOU WILL NOTICE FROM THIS POINT FORWARD THAT I CHANGED THE NAME OF THE DRIVE OF P3GO AND THE MICROSD THAT IS PLUGGED INSIDE THE P3GO TO HELP IDENTIFY THEM BETTER!!!

Ok THIS DONE LET'S FIRST UPGRADE OUR P3GO!

(IMPORTANT: for users that upgraded their P3GO with the 2010-11-26 upgrade there is no need to put the update.bin file inside the microSD.. just put the file inside the P3GO to upgrade to V10)

To the other users who somehow have difficulties upgrading their P3GO let's do it:
Open up the microSD that it is inside the P3GO like in the pictures:



Copy the update.bin file that is inside the 20101208-2-downgrade.rar file to the microSD like this:


JUST UNPLUG YOUR P3GO AND PLUG IT AGAIN AND YOU WILL SEE IN THE PROPERTIES OF THE DRIVE THAT IT IS V10 LIKE THIS:


Now let's copy the downgrade.bin file to the P3GO drive like this:


Congratulations you now have your P3GO ready to kick some 3.50 firmware!!

Now let's face the console:

With the console completely turned off (FAT - The switch in the back and the SLIM with the cable of the power completely removed) plug your P3GO like in the photo:


Now connect the PS3 like jailbreak: Power + Eject really quickly and you will see you will be in factory/service mode like this:

Just power off the PS3 via XMB!

Now using the formatted pen to fat32 you will need to copy the modified 341 PUP for 341 from DGF and Lv2diag.self FILE 1 to the clean pen:

Plug the PEN to the USB PORT that is the most right in your console like the photo:


Power on the console and you WONT SEE ANYTHING IN THE SCREEN OF YOUR TV BUT IT WILL TAKE MORE OR LESS 3 MINUTES TO FLASH THE 3.41 FIRMWARE and AFTER THAT THE PS3 WILL POWER OFF BY ITSELF!

Now delete ALL THE FILE IN YOUR FAT32 PEN and copy the Lv2diag.self FILE 2 to the pen:


Connect the pen again like this:


Power on the console and after 10 seconds the console will power off again!

After that power on the console again WITHOUT THE P3 OR ANY OTHER PEN CONNECTED AND YOU WILL SEE THAT YOU ARE IN 3.41


Now just rename or delete the downgrade.bin file from P3GO and you can use it to jailbreak your PS3!

will my p3go be plugged in the whole time before i put the pen in? if i'm correct, after i plug in the p3go and get the ps3 in service mode, i just turn it off via xmb afterwards right? then i plug in the pen that's formatted fat32. and just for clarity's sake, a pen is any usb flash drive?
