I ran out of room on my 60gb PS3, but have a 2TB External Hdd, can I somehow use the External to save the game data and saves that are required when booting a new game for the first time?

    Thanks in Adavnce

Mention it to Dean in the multiman thread. Doesn't seem that bad to implement. Hell, I saw that Hermes manager now can play split file games from external. So, anything is possible now.

From what i understand it IS possible through use of Open Manager and Open Copy Install.

You can mount the external HD and install game data to the External HD. Game Saves will always be stored on the internal HD. No worries though because they are never really huge, if I'm not mistaken. Correct me if I'm wrong, anyone.

I have the same issue as you and I use Open Copy Install to do as I mentioned above. In order to play the games that have data saved to the External HD you have to mount the game with Open Copy Install every time before you launch from XMB or the game will try to reinstall the game data and hang.

I believe this is correct, the way i use Open Copy Install and understand it. It's been forever since I've been active in the scene lol I still use Ipod Video with hermes v4B Payload. So... yea lol

I read it has to deal with caching... Same deal as Open Copy Install iirc.
Open Copy Install creates a cache on the internal HD to be read from the external HD, but External HD must be mounted in order for everything to work properly.

I don't get how the caching is going to work though. The files will be split on the external HD right, so are we only going to be transferring said split files over to Internal to be joined? idk... lol I'm confused how it's supposed to work or even if it is fully functional. I'm tempted to use but that would mean making the jump to cfw lol as i mentioned in the post above im still using dongle with hermes v4B.

Anyway i can't wait to read more on how it works or if it works once more people hear the news.
