[Q] DEX>CEX without dump?

Hey PSX-Scene,

I hate myself for making a thread for this, but I really don't know what to do. Searched for solutions already, but can't find any. 'cause of not being good with keeping backups save and such, I lost my NOR-dump. I do obtained the rootkey, though. I also saw something about a DEX dump convertion to CEX, but it wasn't clear for me at all.

Can someone help me with this?

EDIT: Oh, the DEX convertion is clear now! Is there anything I should pay attention to?

I don't know if it's possible but I still have my NAND CEX dump, I can upload it for you if someone can confirm it will work...

Thanks for the offer, but that'll brick my PS3. Found a solution, after solving the problem with converting my DEX dump to CEX. If someone wants the solution, just respond.

I would like to see what you did if possible. PS3 is a NOR also.

can you show me? im trying to do this but cant , im trying to find kmeaW LVL2_KERNEL.SELF online to try and get the keys first but cant find the files online

First of all I downgraded my 4.21 DEX (OFW) to Rogero 3.55DEX. Then I installed itskamel's 3.55DEX. Made a dump with MULTIMAN of my DEX flash and converted it to CEX.

Rename file back to original for MM flashing.

if you like to re-produce/rebuild the CEXflash (verify on your own to know what your doing)
it's easy:

* grab c2d_v2 (latest MM includes all apps)
* install openssl to c:\openssl
* put all your file sinto the cd2 folder (flashdex.bin/eid_root_key.bin)
* click and hold SHIFT+rightclick in the open cd2 folder
* open command prompt here
* copy/paste following line to convert dexflash to proper CEXflash TargetID 84

Code:
c2d.exe eid_root_key.bin flashdex.bin flashCEX.bin 84
that's all you need to do here, verify the MD5 checksum

the correct/valid converted NAND CEXflash/TargetID 84

EDIT: WHERE IT SAYS 84 IT CAN BE DIFFERENT FROM WHAT TARGET ID YOU HAVE TO USE.
check: http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/SKU_Models#Regioning for the right one. For example: Europe is 85.

That's what I did. Just stick to this after converting:

1- rename your 16 MB cex flash to my.CEX.EID0.NORBIN for Slim Console With NOR flash and my.CEX.EID0.NANDBIN for Fat console with NAND flash

2- Overwrite the reanamed cex flash file Using multiman . (Run in filemanager of multiman)

WARNING DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR CONSOLE AFTER OVERWRITING YOUR CEX FLASH . TURNING OFF MAY CAUSE YOUR CONSOLE BRICK

3- Download And Install FactoryServiceMod.pkg but DONT RUN .

4- Download Rogero CFW V3.4 and rename it to PS3UPDAT.PUP

5- Download Lv2diag.self file (365Kb)

6- Copy Renamed Rogero CFW and Lv2diag.self to root folder of Your Cooldisk Or EXT.HDD

7- Connect Your CoolDisk Or HDD to right usb slot of your console ( the one near BD drive)

8- Run FactorySerViceMode From Console
after running factoryservicemode the screen goes black wait until the console turn off automaticlly.this may take 4-5 min.

9- Delete Lv2diag.self (365Kb) From cooldisk or HDD. download Lv2diag.self (4.14Kb) from the link below and copy to root folder of cooldisk or HDD . connect it to right slot of your console.

There is two Lv2diag.self for this TuT , Be careful . First one is 365kb and 2nd one is 4.14kb .
10- Turn on The Console . wait for automatic turn off

11- eject usb drive , turn on console.

but in one step you say, to use the "c2d.exe eid_root_key.bin flashdex.bin flashCEX.bin 84" and you need the did_root_key.bin...to get this , it says:

1. install itskamel dex cfw 3.55
2. install rebugs lv2_loader.pkg
3 install eEID_RKDumper.pkg
4. used mutiman mmCM ver 04.04.03 FULL
5. enable write to dev_flash in mutiman
6. get kmeaw lv2_kernel.self and put root of dev_blind folder
7. disable write access dev_flash in mutiman
8. run lv2_loader.pkg " if worked u will hear 3 beeps"
9. run eEID_RKDumper.pkg " if worked u will hear 3 bleeps"
10 use mutiman and go to hdd0\tmp\ and u will see the key .
11. copy key to usb

where do i find the file for step 6
