This is currently what happens whenever I turn my PS3 on:

Sometimes I get lucky and I'm able to use my PS3 for 2 minutes tops before the discoloration or whatever it's called happens again.

Here's what I've tried so far to remedy this issue:
    - Formatted the HDD
    - Reinstalled OFW 3.55
    - Switch hard drives
    - Leaving my PS3 alone for several hours and turning it back on
    - Start it up without a HDD.

I'm running out of ideas. Does anyone have any idea what the issue is? This happened right after I installed and ran the Bulletstorm demo that I downloaded from the PSN store. I've been running 3.55CFW-kmeaw without any issues until now.

Thats artifacting extremely bad. It looks to me like your ps3 is getting ready to ylod on you. the only way to fix that is to reflow it or reball it.

Take it apart and reapply thermal paste. It looks like it is overheating
