[8002f157] Won't boot back to xbm after update, it can't install any firmware either. need help!! –
After an update, it doesn't boot back to xbm. It stucks!
Every time I turn on ps3, it ask me to put a firmware 3.56 or above on an usb-drive and then press" start + select". So I downloaded the latest firmware (v4.00) then put it into usb-stick (root/PS3/UPDATE/). it starts to read the firmware from the usb-drive, after it done with reading, it begin search the firmware. after that, it saids press the "PS" button to continue. So I press it. unfortunately it stops and saids " The data are currupt. (8002f157)" in dutch. I've also tried different firmware, it gives same result.
Things I already tried:
Formatted the HDD with an usb converter
All six options on recovery mode
Is there are something else, I should try? I hope you guys can help me out.
BTW it's a 250 GB slim and warranty has already expired.
Have you tried re-downloading the update? If the update downloads "instantly" it is probably just cached in your temporary files, and you need to delete those or try restarting the PC, to make it fetch the file over again.
It's probably just a corrupted/incomplete update file. I don't think Internet Explorer alerts you of an incomplete download, so you might want to try another browser, like firefox or chrome to download the file with.
Have you tried both usb ports? Is your controller using a usb cable? Have you tried updating from a disk instead, either retail or can you maybe put the update on a blank cd or dvd? (I'm not sure if you can do that, think I've read you can but could be wrong?) Or try a name brand newer usb memory stick.

to: swordofwar I am sure the file is fine
to: DCghost It can't boot to xbm, so updating from a disk is not possible, right? I also tried different usb-port with or without controller.
