Can you make a Vista theme? THe one with transparent tool bar.
ex: http://www.scotsnewsletter.com/art/72/desktop.jpg
don't include the tool bar in the bottum, just have that wallaper with the icons in the original places as the default myps2 skin.
Kind of like this, ex:

I been thinking about a ps2 theme![]()
Installation:
copy/replace the entire "skins" folder with the one included in this package! uLaunchELF works the best for this (copy & paste)
Switch Skins:
enter Settings-Skins-(Choose Skin from the list of skins in the menu); it should take a few
seconds while myps2 parsings the skin on the fly. when the new skin is appied just save settings
if you wish for that skin to be your defualt on boot/reboot :-)
Linux Theme v2.0 (Final - will post r1..r2...ect...for furure compatiblity revisions/bug fixes if any)
- Enhanced Background Resolution
- Reorganized & Edited Main Layout
- New Focus Settings
- Added New Audio Player
- Added Volume Control (Modifed Fnu Lnu's Volslide.png)
- Some Other Finalizing Editing ;-)
Fnu Lnu's XP Theme Update r3
- Enhanced Background Resolutions
- Removed Unused Files (Not Needed)
- Replaced Language Icon
- Fixed Screen Positions (Effects All Menu/Screens - Edited Just About Every Skin XML File!)
- Fixed Bug In main.xml (Audio Time/Progress Shows Up In Main Menu)
- Fixed Bug In myfiles.xml (Left Options Menu/Controls Function Properly Now)
- Fixed Bug In mymusic.xml (Audio Volume & Controls Fixed)
- Changed Focus For Audio Player Icons (Better Visual Representation)
- Modifed radio.xml
- Removed The Need For msenglish.xml (Fixed Lables Normally Not Used By Myps2 Within Windows Theme
This Also Inturn Fixed A Bug Where If After Loading msenglish.xml You Launch An Elf File IT Would Crash "FIXED")
- Generally More Stable & A More Comfortable User Interface!
If you have a request/suggestions or find any bugs send a private message my way

@flamingo24: Thank you for taking an interest in my Windows themed skin. I don't mind if you make changes to match new releases of the program, but I will expect more thourough testing before you release a new version of this skin. Attached are some pictures of the Settings menu. There is a black bar along the left side of the screen and text and pictures hang off of it. Also, the settings screens seem to jump up and down as you browse each menu and there is no start menu at the bottom of any of them. And if you want to show what the buttons do on these screens, I would suggest using label commands rather than typing on the background as this text gets really pixelated. You could have pictures of the buttons too if you like. I've never used Samba, but there doesn't seem to be any way to configure it in the settings - there is an icon of some sort but nothing to select. Additionally, there is a problem with the music control buttons in the My Music screen - pushing left and right moves to the wrong button.
I had difficulty switching skins when I simply copied the whole skins folder. I had to delete the "default" and "linux" folders and rename the "windows" folder to "default" in order for the skin to work - I'm not sure why, but it would lock up if I loaded the default skin and tried to switch to windows. You also forgot to include the lanugage xml file in the download package.
I was thinking that once we get the overall look and setup down, we can start to make additional main menu screens using the template with the start menu at the bottom and the menu bar to the left. Personally I prefered the original field background, but can release this template so other people can insert whatever other background they want.
Your original theme was great but there were many mistake made when you edited and created the background, first the start menu bar you pasted to the background had the wrong x & y positions coupled with the fact you edited your xml files based on those inaccuate positions; which then made the lower left, right, & bottom of the the menu non-visible and that made for people to force the x & y in the setting menu to get a clear picture. use the default x & y position and it should show up normal if not I have a question are you using a pal or an ntsc telivision set? I forgot to mention that for the time being I erased the start menu for the settings options so that is why you wont see it! You are asking me to do more testing I'm just fixing what you created...Originally Posted by Fnu Lnu
I am using this method as a temporary hack, when I clear out all the bugs or just rewrite the whole skin I am already planning on adding "triangle" & "cross" symbols on the corners of the xml files that use the browsebackground.png (using seperate icons, labled in the xml file) along with text lables opposed to using hard text :-)if you want to show what the buttons do on these screens, I would suggest using label commands rather than typing on the background as this text gets really pixelated. Accually this was your issue you created when you completly removed the "go back" switch in the mymusic.xml file instead of using the "<visible>0</visible>" call.. additionally when you rearanged the <down>, </up>, </left>,</right> you also rearanged the xml tree and that caused some serious issues with the player where the cursor would sometimes completly fall off the screen and freeze the program :=/ Also there were even more serious errors in your original myfiles.xml where you couldnt browse the options on the left until you highlighted a file + the "copy" command was located in the wrong place much like your original audio player icons (this is why the second right brings you to the far left first). It is note worthy that its not just those xml files that still have issues eather!I've never used Samba, but there doesn't seem to be any way to configure it in the settings - there is an icon of some sort but nothing to select. Additionally, there is a problem with the music control buttons in the My Music screen - pushing left and right moves to the wrong button.
Additionally the samba menu has yet to be fully implimented as stated in my previous poststhis is why I expect it not to load the samba options from the windows theme (at the moment). I am not merlin and I dont have a magic wand so I will release fixes & menus as we go.
Your language file is not needed anymore if you would read my post as what was changed I removed it cause it was causing a serious crash when I switch over to your language file then tried to run an elf file with myfiles it would crash unless I rebooted first (this is why I am for the time being using hard text)! Did you by chance attempt to switch to your english.xml file in the Interim before it crashed? You should also give myps2 at least a full 60-85 seconds before assuming it crashed (it takes awhile to parsing the xml files yah know)I had difficulty switching skins when I simply copied the whole skins folder. Sounds like a plan; I really like your overall theme Idea and the seperation of backgrounds with mymusic (aka media player) was a top notch addition.I was thinking that once we get the overall look and setup down, we can start to make additional main menu screens using the template with the start menu at the bottom and the menu bar to the left. I have an NTSC set. I noticed that the bottom was cut off but assumed it was my aging television. When I took screenshots however, it showed up correctly. Also, nobody ever mentioned that it was off - leading me to believe it really was just my TV - otherwise I would've done what I could to fix it.Originally Posted by flamingo24

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say that I may have just not properly transfered (or copied over) the the right xml file or something.you also rearanged the xml tree and that caused some serious issues with the player where the cursor would sometimes completly fall off the screen and freeze the program
This was not an error, and it was stated in the ReadMe file. It seemed more intuitive to only allow access to those commands after making a selection. It was much quicker to mark a file and push left and go right to copy, then mark a file, move over and tick down each choice until you reached the more pertinent functions. In the instance that one would still want to choose the Arrange functions, all you had to do was just mark a file and move over. Again, no one objected to this design change, so I believed it to be a wise decision. Also there were even more serious errors in your original myfiles.xml where you couldnt browse the options on the left until you highlighted a file + the "copy" command was located in the wrong place...
Yes I waited a considerable time before concluded it had locked up. I'm sure you would encounter problems trying to use my ver 1.1 skin with myPS2 ver 1.2. If there were other commands they probably didn't get transfered over and would conflict with the skin created for an earlier version.Your language file...was causing a serious crash when I switch over to your language file then tried to run an elf file with myfiles it would crash unless I rebooted first ...Did you by chance attempt to switch to your english.xml file in the Interim before it crashed? I've been pretty busy lately, and will continue to be for a while, but whenever I get a chance I'll take a better look at the xml files and stuff and see what I can do.
No, it was a serious problem! Maybe you should have done some more testing!Originally Posted by Fnu Lnu

Being a windows theme that is not a vary user friendly approach and to me it is a bug since it functions in a method that myps2 was not necessarily designed for...What if someone just wants to enter the myfiles menu only to change the sort options and not actually highlight files???This was not an error, and it was stated in the ReadMe file. I have already tested this and you are wrong, but I will give you the benifit of the doubt and say that maybe you installed the skins wrong or made the mistake of using your custom english.xml file while switching skins.Yes I waited a considerable time before concluded it had locked up. I'm probably going to rewrite your skin since it is plagued with so many issues, you will find the linux skin I have created works perfectly and that is the goal of the rewrite...I will however still credit you in the readme.txtI've been pretty busy lately, and will continue to be for a while, but whenever I get a chance I'll take a better look at the xml files and stuff and see what I can do.![]()
Edit/Update: With your windows theme I did more then just use your windows v1.1 theme on myps2 v1.2, using just the 1.0 and 1.1 files caused a error parsing files before it would even load the gui!
