Hm, I tried loading from the HDD with the proper HDD strings in the CONFIG.DAT, but it hangs at the the "Please wait while the program is loading." screen.
I noticed that the only way to load the program from the USB flash drive is to use the HDD string (for me, at least), only problem is, sometimes it doesn't save the strings, so I have to open wordpad and resave it.
Another thing. The date on the myPS2 dashboard is incorrect for West USA. I checked my PS2's clock and the time is correct. Is there a way you can add an option to time/date or have it synchronize with the PS2's hardware clock? And is there a way you could have myPS2 save "Sort" settings? That's very minor IMO, but just throwing it out there.
Still, this is an awesome app, thanks alot and keep up the great work. :)
EDIT: Added a couple more observations/suggestions.
myps2 from hdd hangs when usbd.irx (napalm's version) is located at mc0:/boot/ and says "Please wait while the program is loading".
When I remove usbd.irx file from mc0 myps2 says that it couldn't mount the partition that I set in the config.dat (i rechecked and tried more than 10 times and I know I'm doing the right thing.. dunno what is happening)
Oh and I'm using uLaunchELF v.41r to boot myps2 (maybe this is the problem?)
bye, thx anyway
I think I am having the same problem as you.....It goes thro the boot up fine, loads the +MYPS2 partition then goes to loading usbd.irx and then says cannot load hdd:PARTITION.
I changed it many times and even tried setting it up exactly like the readme by making the same partitions as the readme and it still craps out at the same spot.
well i'm not having a problem loading it or anything, i actually really like myps2 the only thing is that when i try to load ps2mp3 station while using myps2 it freezes. Does anyone know why this is, or a way to fix it. From mc, hdd, or cd it freezes under myps2.I know i can get it to work with launchelf, but i like having everything nice and neat with myps2. thx for the help in advance.
Okey dokey, I got to run from the HDD...you gotta open the CONFIG.DAT in Notepad and copy the little squares and use them as returns and use tab to space things like the rest of it.
Now...I just have to go through the hundreds of lines of code to find the differences between this skin and the old one I made. I thought I found the differences, but my custom Windows skin won't load. BUT at least it tells me when there's an error parsing the skin before I get into the program.
*Edit: Nevermind, got it to work...also updated my Windows theme skin
I have tried editing my config.dat in WinVI and notepad and still no luck....and I don't understand why.
lang_file = english.xml
lang_charset = ISO-8859-1
skin_name = default
hdd_boot_part = hdd0:PARTITION
hdd_boot_path = /PROGRAMS/MYPS2/
So does this me I have a partition named 'PARTITION' and MYPS2 boots from a direction in the partition called 'MYPS2'? If so this should be working.
hi, by the way, great work ntba2.
Ive got it running from the hdd after a few tries. Below are the two lines i have at the end of the config file. I also have the little squares at the end of each of these lines.
hdd_boot_part = hdd0:+APPS
hdd_boot_path = /myPS2_v1.1/
As you can see, the partition i have the myPS2 folder in, is +APPS. So, put the name of your partition here. Then put the folder name in the second line of code. and thats it. That works for me.
Thanks again ntba2 for this great app.
Ahh.....i will try it out when I get the chance but im forgetting to put in the + infront of the boot_part.
OK.....adding the + got me a little further thro the boot now I am getting this error:
Error while parsing GUI XML files!
You need to put the new language.xml and fonts.xml files into skins/default/pal, in case you didn't copy over all the new files for this version...you will also need the new english.xml in the language folder. You should probably delete the font files out of skins/default/fonts - I don't know if it's absolutely necessary, but I did and it works.
