background issues

I didn't get a reply to a post I left in the "My Skins" thread, so I am making my own thread. I am trying to replace the default background in myPS2 v1.0 to a different background, but no matter what I do, I get a black screen. Instead of screwing around and making my own custom skin, I wanted to build it off of the default skin, so I just deleted the background.png file off my memory card and replaced it with my own custom one. It has the same file name and everything, so any ideas why it won't work?

not a clue. I have replaced mine 4 or 5 times, but i just overwrite it.
