    I have been testing hooking up my PSP to my PS2 so I could listen to music of of the PSP with SMS and Transfer files to the memorycard with uLaunchELF and have found that my 32mb memory stick for the PSP works fine but if I try with my 1gig stick it causes both SMS and uLaunchELF to crash(frozen screen)

    The USBD.IRX I am using is 23.6KB and I can't remember where I got it from but does anybody know if there is a more recent version that will allow bigger memorysticks to work?

    Thanks in advance.

    I don't think the storage size has anything to do with it, since I use an 80gig HDD in a USB enclosure myself, without any problems with either SMS or uLE.

    In most cases problems are caused by an incorrect format, like using NTFS instead of the correct FAT32 format. But in some cases there is some incompatibility in the basic protocol of the firmware of a memory stick. If that is the case, then you're out of luck...

    As for the USBD.IRX choice, your best chance for uLE is to use the internal IRX, simply by clearing the choice of an external one in the 'Startup Settings' of the configuration menu, so that the choice is shown as "DEFAULT".

    Well the format is FAT32 and it is a $ony memorystick but not an official PSP one so maybe thats it,I'll try using the default IRX tonight and see if it makes any difference.

    By the way,you were right about PS2 programming,way over my head so I thought I would start with visual basic and work my way up.
    I might be of some use by the time PS4 is out

    @Proton_:
    The internal USBD.IRX used by v3.78 is identical to that used in several earlier versions, though it may have been updated at ps2dev.org several times since v3.45 of uLaunchELF. I really don't think that this is the cause of your problem though. It might be something about the FAT support in usb_mass instead. Please doublecheck that you are using the recommended format, which is FAT32.

    @vahn_18:
    I don't understand your problem. If it does work fine with the AR MAX usbd.irx, then why not keep using that ?

    Or do you really mean that it only works with the AR Max program ?
    (an entirely different matter, having little to do with the IRX).

    I did have compatibility problems with a Kingston unit myself long ago, though I can't test this again, as I got rid of it. But I have seen some user report that he got it to work in a later version of uLaunchELF. Please try again, trying other IRXs than the default in your uLaunchELF startup settings, and also make sure that the filesystem used is FAT32.

    hi dlanor. ya the only thing suceeded in communicating with my usb flash drive is AR MAX. why don't i keep using it? because i've seen lotsa bad reports bout AR MAX. y'know i dont wanna be a victim XD i want a "safer" method.

    So, i guess i'll give it a try with FAT-32. hope it works ^^

    no good, bro... tried with 2 usbd.irxs. one from linux kit and another one from GT4(i guess).

    when i pressed the O button on mass drive option, the Analog light on my controller went out. then it freeze.

    Orr... Does it matter where I launched it from? because I launched it directly from CD.

    I still haven't tried the HDD and FTP yet tho. If they works, then i will tottaly forget this USB pen drive thing XD

    ps:mine was slim ps2 75006.

    Using IRXs at random will probably get you nowhere...
    Only a small minority of the USBD.IRX drivers by Sony will work with any homebrew software, such as uLaunchELF.

    That will happen with incompatible versions of the Sony drivers.

    I'm not sure what you meant here. "Launched uLE" or "Launched USBD.IRX"...? But it really shouldn't matter either way, as long as the launching referred to succeeds.

    If I understand you correctly, you are just looking for a quick way to transfer stuff from your PC to your PS2 (either MC or HDD). In that case your best option might be the "host:" interface. Like FTP it can access files on a PC (the HOST), but it doesn't use FTP protocol. So instead of an FTP client on the PC-side, you use a special client program instead. That program is known as "ps2client", though there are also a number of 'Front ends' for it, to simplify its use. Once such a program is running properly on the PC (and properly configured), you can access the shared PC folders in uLaunchELF through the "host:" device, just as if they were resident on a drive of your PS2. So you can either copy them to real PS2 media, or even run ELF programs directly from the PC.

    The "host:" interface gives me average transfer rates of appx 500 kbytes/second, which is far better than I ever got with regular FTP protocol.

    It also compares reasonably well with the method of first connecting a USB device to a PC to 'fill it up' and then moving that device to the PS2 for copying the content to other PS2 media. After all, the PS2 only has USB 1.1, so the speed of its USB transfers is not very remarkable...

    Btw:
    In a related thread the user "bootsector" has reported success with Kingston flash drives of 256MB and 1GB sizes. Perhaps you can compare setup details with him to reach better results.

    Yes! Working great with bare LaunchElf 3.79 and it's builtin USBD driver (no external USBD.IRX driver used).
