I suggest that you take it back to the installer (you got it installed right?). You could try downgrading your firmware and see if that helps. The iso that i posted above works, i've used that one on my Modbo 745 (Matrix clone). Another option would be to have a friend put uLE on you mem card with his ps2.
Well, doing a little research on his problem, and he did the install himself.
@ tr4il - I can only recommend that you either:
post a high resolution pic of your install in your original thread so that someone with the right skills can help you correct your install.
or send your system to a professional from the "Buy Sell Trade Vendors" section of the forum
any which way, it seems that its more of a hardware issue than software at this point.
Not entirely. Other MI users have successfully cut one connection of their chip to get rid of this misprogrammed sleep feature. As far as I know that feature is only helpful with a very few games that play online, so if that's not any priority for you, cutting that connector may be a good solution for you.
I'm not aware of any alternate homebrew versions, though you might be able to make it work with some older version from Matrix Team, from the time before this insane sleep feature was implemented in its present form. But I'm not 100% sure if the pinout of those chips were identical. All I really know is that this problem did not exist back when I had an MI, and I used a firmware version from Matrix Team (can't recall exactly which thoughCan i reinstall homebrew firmware?).
And that's not all. You'll have the same problem with trying to read AVIs from normal DVD-ROM formatted DVD-R discs for SMS too, which is what most users have been complaining about. With SMS you can get around it by burning special discs in DVD-Video format, still containing the same AVIs, because that method works even on non-mod PS2s, but that's no help for all the guys with a large existing AVI collection in normal DVD-ROM format.Really confused since i have DEV2 installed but have this 'sleep' bug or whatever prevents me copying over HDL to the hdd.
And of course, you also get the same problem with all emulators needing to read emulated console game ROMs from CD-ROM or DVD-ROM discs.
It's like I said before. This sleep bug affects all homebrews that read home-burned CD-ROM or DVD-ROM discs, so it needs to be fixed one way or another. Several possibilities exist:
1: Team Matrix may develop a new firmware with a sane version of the sleep feature, so it doesn't cripple use of homebrew.
2: If the above proves impossible, they could still make the sleep feature a configurable option, so that homebrew users can turn it off
3: You may be able to find a firmware version which doesn't have the feature.
4: You can disable the feature by cutting one mod-chip connection lead
If you go for the final of these solutions I know that some other guys here have all the detailed info you need. I think someone even posted some pictures a while ago, showing what to do.
Best regards: dlanor
Now the problem is even worse lol. I am most likely going to just acquire another ps2 because this one was given to me by a friend anyways. I tried installing the homebrew firmware to bring it back to its original state, but it said installation was unsuccessful, after i powered down and i turn it on the screen flickers then never ending blackness, no browser nor matrix logo anymore..Is the chip still ok? Would i still be able to install it into a different ps2?
Not to clutter up the uLE forums with modchip issues, but I say either send it to a pro and have them gurantee their work, or get a new chip and try again. Since you are having massive problems on all of this, I really do reccomend that you send your ps2 off to a pro. and more than likely your system is fine. its just that the chip is screwed. Also if you want to go further in your hardware problem, you might want to move this to the appropriate forum.
