Well, it's logical that to have access to HDD you need to enable all HDD modules. By default uLE only enables HDD if requested by the user. But if you're making use of it for HDD, why not remove that behavior and also make path hardcoded ? And __sysconf is there exactly for that, store settings. great idea.
As per the arguments, it's aways 'mountpointartition name'. Sometimes in special cases it's that plus weird stuff like long text strings (DNAS hashpasses or other similar stuff, for example PSBBN MBR passes a hashpass as argument to the OSD loader program).
