I cannot load ulaunchelf with devmode of my Iridium zen.
I can load well sms 1.7.8.
I have tried also uncompressed version but both after pressing the devmode button the screen remain black and i need to hardreset my v12.
This v12 don't read cd but works well with dvd.
Is a known problem or is a my problem?
dev2 needs boot.elf in lower case..definitely
dev1 needs BOOT.ELF uppercase. (i think)
otherwise will blackscreen , green screen, red screen...i get different colors each time.
BOOT.ELF of uLaunchelf is uppercase if is lower case it returns to ps2 browser.

You never specified what your 'devmode' really is, and since I, and probably others too, have never before heard of something called "Iridium Zen", we can hardly guess at your meaning.
From your earlier comments I deduce that you are using Dev1 booting, and that this works for you with SMS, but not with uLaunchELF. That last is rather surprising as I've been using Dev1 as my main boot method since long before I even got involved in developing uLE, and I've never had any trouble with it. (And I've done it with three unrelated mod chips.)
Does that same version of uLE work for you if you boot it from a DVD-R disc instead ?

i think Iridium Zen is that new mod chip.

It have native dev1 support and with a config file also dev2. I'm trying with dev1 and a maxmemory 32Mb memory card. I'll try to load from dvd and a sony 8Mb mc.
On my v9 with infinity and the same mc i don't have this problem.

hmm...since you say SMS is booting...
SMS has 2 options when exiting it...exit to mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF
and mc0:/BE-SYSTEMDATA/BOOT.ELF (or BA for NTSC)
Put SMS as dev1...and copy uLE to the BE-SYSTEMDATA/BOOT.ELF
Set SMS to exit to BE-SYSTEMDATA
Then see if it starts when you exit SMS.
or maybe its the memorycard....
all these unofficial high capacity memory cards usually have some sort of boot disc you have to use and swap to get the games to recognize them...
but most modchips will have built in support to make them work without the bootdisc..
maybe the support gets activated only when booting a game or something...and not when during dev1..
but its kinda unlikely cos then hdloader games will all have memory card problems...dont think the chip developers will be this shortsighted.
in anycase try using a sony memory card...or firmware upgrade.
when i had a cheap modchip with no dev1 or anything...
i just used to keep a ps1 disc permanently stuffed in the drive..and had uLE in BE-SYSTEMDATA/BOOT.ELF
i just had to hold the power button when turning it on to disable the modchip and it would boot uLE as independence exploit.
presuming we dont solve this...theres your last resort.
i read the zen site...you also have to hold power button to disable chip.

The Zen designers have clearly failed to implement the elf launching of their Dev1 mode correctly. This is very similar to problems we have seen with various homebrew file managers, which could launch some ELFs but failed with others, for no obvious reasons. Even uLE itself had such problems at (much) earlier stages of its development.
What you should do now is to report this flaw to the firmware designers and hope they can fix it in a new firmware release.
Until such a new release you can probably get by using workarounds like those described by 'thetest'. If you can make it work well, I agree with him that your best alternative would be to use SMS for your current Dev1 program, and use its exit command to launch uLE from the Bx-SYSTEMDATA folder, as such cooperation between uLE and SMS has worked fine for a long time now.
