04-18-2007,06:53 AM
i have ULE v4.12... my problem is i can't paste anything in my new partition in HDD... my partition size is 5GIG. everyrime i paste it will be a "PASTE FAILED" and even you make a new directory it will be "NEWDIR FAILED". sometimes making anew directory will be a success, BUT! after you reset you ps2 or go back to the menu the new created directory will disappered! is this a HDD problem or what?
bootlegninja refer me to post here... so i hope someone can help me here
I faintly remember EP and dlanor talking about this issue about a month or two back in the uLE thread at psx-scene and fixing it. you may want to post in that thread and give them a detailed description of whats going on, and if the file is small enough, post it with that description. Sounds like a bug somewhere in the program.

I don't think I've ever heard of such a problem. Unless it's related to modchip atad patching, but then I don't have a modchip.
Three things you should try to check:
1. Can you read other things on the hard drive or is it only a hdd write problem?
2. Try another partition and try putting data on it.
3. Try another program such as ps2menu-k and check to see if you can copy files to a hdd partition with it.

i have caught what is wrong with "PASTE FAILED"
1st i have tried ps2 slim (v12). when i use this it will be a "PASTE FAILED".
2nd i have tried ps2 thick (v9). when i transfer files it will "PASTE" and it will not "PASTE FAILED".
so i therefore conclude that, v12 is not compatible w/ ULE... i think the the trasfering speed rate is too fast... but in the v9 ps2 the trasfering speed rate is normal...
hehe...

@ EP - Sorry if that specific topic wasn't brought up in the ule thread before, but I think it may have been when you and/or and dlanor was helping tonybologna or someone else, (having a hard time remembering) I ran a couple searches with varying keywords but didn't turn anything up on this specific problem in the thread. but at the very least I wanted buggy12 to come here and address the problem.. sorry again if I was wrong.

I had something a little different than buggy12 & his problem with failed pasting. It's hard to remember so much stuff posted on the forums so I know what you're talking about. Thanks!

That is not my understanding of it, as we've had other 'slim' users report successful operation. But there's definitely some truth to the fact that the 'HDCombo' implementation is of a lower quality than the Sony HDD interface in their network adaptors for 'fat' PS2s, and the resulting lack of compatibility may give varying symptoms on different units, due to marginal differencies.

I have also heard of some users needing to patch HDL for slow DMA rates to make it work right on some 'slim' PSTwo units, so transfer speed may well be a critical factor, but this still doesn't alter the fact that many 'slim' users have no problem with uLE. So I still tend to think that it's your unit (and others like it) that deviate from the norm.
However, it may be possible to make a version of uLE with patched HDD drivers to allow even such PSTwo units to work right, but that is not something I or EP can do ourselves. Neither of us have any 'slim' PSTwo to experiment with, so others will have to do that work, if it is to be done at all.
Best regards: dlanor
