Hi there, I wanted to ask a question about uLaunch transfering PS2 saves. Is it capable of doing it? Is there a risk in somehow messing / destroying saves while transfering saves from PS2 to USB Flash to PC?

How to avoid problems transfering PS2 saves with uLaunchELF?

What type of saves are those transfered by the use of uLaunchELF (RAW saves?)

How to convert saves (which can be downloaded from gamefaqs [codebreaker / ar max / gameshark / xport / xploder saves])to be usable with uLaunchELF to transfer back and forth to PC -> USB Flash -> MC?

I've already tried to transfer saves of PlayStation 1 (PSX) using uLaunchELF (on PS2) it works like a charm!!!

For PS2 saves you have to use the psuPaste function. Then you're not taking any risk, cause all files with their timestamps and attributes are saved in a single *.psu file.

You can use the PS2SaveBuilder and the XPS<->PSU converter to convert all your downloaded saves. http://www.psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48622

BTW, if you can use the network, you don't have to use a USB device at all.

Well, Jones32 I have slim PS2 silver satin with network adapter. Then I just need to use something like LAN cable and just simply connect my PS2 to PC and use some specific PS2 to PC software? BTW what is this software? Any examples?

Thanks for clearing out my problem!!!

you need crossover cable (ps2 <-> pc) or regular lan cable for ps2 <-> routrer communication. You run uLauncherELF's FTP server on your ps2 and flashfxp (or some other ftp soft) on your pc to upload/download stuff from your ps2

NO!!! Don't use FTP! That will destroy many saves!

Use LaunchELFs host function, and start PS2Client on your PC, that's the only way of using psuPaste via network. There are some Client automators available, I always use the one provided by vtecorona (PS2ClientLoader v1.2.6).

The regular copy/paste is sufficient for PSX saves, cause they don't need timestamps.

The mcPaste was the PS2-Save-Backup-Solution, before psuPaste was implemented, and cause many people still have save-backups made with mcPaste, it's still in there. McPaste is a normal paste function with an additional file, containing all attributes and timestamps. But some gamesaves have names with illegal characters, like ":" or "\". Those saves cannot be copied to USB or PC.
That's why psuPaste is better, cause it will work with every save, regardless of illegal names.

@ kidman64: Np, I guess there wasn't any harm yet. And you're right for normal stuff, like homebrew. That can be FTPed without any prob.

    best regards Jones23

Sorry for the bump.. I already got .psv into raw save perfectly.. how about all those other formats..

I can convert all (I think) gamefaqs saves into .psu format. Using MyMC util.

But how can I make it into raw PS2 save ?

    SLUS-20967 ENTHUSIA PLAY DATA (4181B849).psu

EDIT: ..oops. You have to hit Copy and THEN psuPaste will be available when you get to the root of memcard

Like a glove with the .max .. .xps and .cbs also can convert to .psu
