Certain .txt files will not open, it just says file opened and the ULE freezes. any reason why this would be happening?

Please don't link to sites that attempt to run JavaScripts on the computers of all visitors. I won't download any files from such sites anyway. (I don't care how safe you believe such sites to be. I won't trust them with my computer's safety in any case.)

If you need to share some text file, simpy make a normal attachment of that file to your post here, preferably in ZIP or RAR form to save space.

In case you missed how to make attachments here, look for the "Additional Options" section, below the text entry box in the 'advanced' post editor. It contains one subsection titled "Attach Files", which contains the link "Manage Attachments", so just use that. It's pretty simple really.

No, because I don't see how it would fill any new purpose. Anything you can do with a text viewer can be done just as well with an editor. You just skip saving at the end.

And if there really is a bug in the current editor, then it would probably be copied into a pure viewer version of the same code as well. It's better to fix the bug in the editor, and then use that for viewing as well.
