    Probably a simple questions, but i can not find the info here or in any documentation.

    Can i start a game from ulaunchELF? Or do i have to remove the memorycard everytime i do it, if i boot my PS2 from my memorycard with ulaunchELF.

    What Jones23 said will work for most PS2 games, though you'll need to use "MISC/PS2Browser" instead, if you want to start a PS1 game, and then in that browser select the disc icon and press X.

    I have no idea what you are talking about. Why would anyone, ever, have to remove the memory card ??? I can understand needing to swap it, if you have needed saves on another one, but just removing it is never a need.

    The only reason for that would be if you have configured a mod-chip to use Dev1 booting by default, but even then you can simply override that default by pressing appropriate buttons during reset (precise combination depends on the mod-chip and the boot method you want).

    I repeat: There is absolutely no need, ever, to remove your memory card.
    Not unless there is something seriously wrong with your PS2, that memory card, your mod-chip, or your way of using these things.

    I know that technically you're correct, but still: removing a memory card isn't exactly a devastating process.

    I never said it was, and it's entirely beside the point, anyway.

    The point is that hypnoparadise believed that he had to remove his memory card in order to start anything other than uLaunchELF. That was the question I replied to, in a way intended to eliminate his misunderstanding.

    i use the MC exploit which means that once the PS1 game in the tray matches the TITLE.db on my MC, it loads BOOT.ELF. hence, if i want to load the PS1 game itself, and not make it trigger BOOT.ELF, i need to take out the MC.
    if you know of another way to trigger that PS1 game, i'd be more than happy to hear, i haven't really looked into it.

    Good point, and you have thus managed to name one of the few conditions where it is indeed necessary to remove an MC to get the needed result. But this naturally only applies to the specific PS1 game used as trigger, whereas I assumed that the original question related to launching a PS2 game in general.

    Anyone using the exploit at all should realize that the trigger game is the one thing you can't launch with that MC inserted, so if that had been the intent the question should never have been raised.

    if you know of another way to trigger that PS1 game, i'd be more than happy to hear, i haven't really looked into it.
    In fact I did find a way to do it without any PS1 disc, but that was dependent on the mod-chip I had at the time. For some reason the exploit could then be triggered by inserting a PS2 disc but forcing the chip to boot in PS1 mode. I believe this caused the BIOS to 'see' a faked directory for this disc (as result of mod-chip action), containing one of the files that always exist as default trigger in the exploit file. But that method is of course useless to those without a mod chip, so it's only a curiousity.

    The best choice of trigger CD for exploit users is either some least-liked game, or even some useless demo 'cover-disc' from a PS1 magazine. As long as it's a pressed disc bootable on a real PS1, it should work fine, and then you don't have to worry about a game being 'blocked', since it's not a real game anyway, but merely a demo.
